Keanu Reeves Did The Sweetest Thing For Sandra Bullock After They First Met

The gesture was just one of the many that proved that Reeves was thoroughly listening to others.

Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves both starred together in 1994's Speed and 2006's The Lake House. The two have been good friends ever since they met on set. According to Buzzfeed, the actress shared a story of a sweet romantic gesture courtesy of Reeves.

A year after Speed, she casually told him that she had never had Champagne and truffles. So what did the man touted as one of the nicest guys in Hollywood do? He turned up to her home on his motorcycle — flowers, Champagne, and truffles in hand just a few days later. It just went to show what a thoughtful man Reeves is! "I just thought you might want to try Champagne and truffles to see what it's like," Bullock recalled Reeves saying. The two even went on to share a glass of Champagne, after which Bullock even painted The Matrix star's nails before he had to leave for a date.

This wasn't the only time Reeves showed that he was truly listening to others. "When I first met him, I would spend as much time as I could filling a silence, just to feel comfortable. And the more I jibber-jabbered on, the quieter he would get. And I thought, 'I don't understand what's happening! He's looking at me with eyes of confusion. He's quiet. Did I say something to offend him?' And then, a day or two later, he would arrive with a note or a little package, saying, 'I thought about what you said.' And he would have his response," she shared.

And to anyone questioning why the two were never a couple... (or were they?) Bullock set the record straight to Esquire for Reeve's magazine cover. Were they ever more than friends? "Nope. But who knows? Keanu's a guy who, I feel like, is friends with every woman he's ever dated. I don't think there's anyone who has something horrible to say about him. So maybe we could have survived. I don't know." She added, "But we didn't have to survive anything. We just get to grow up together on parallel roads and tip our hats and meet for a dinner and try to work together. And the longer time goes on, the more in awe I am of the human being. Would I have been able to say that if he had dumped me and made me angry? Probably not," Bullock said.

Reeves himself chimed on, hoping to share screen space with his former costar. "I sure hope so," he said when asked if they'd ever reunite onscreen again. "She's such a wonderful artist and person. And, you know, I think we have good chemistry," he said. "And it would be really exciting and interesting to get the chance to perform with her again."

So would we!
