Or is it happening anyway, and is it too soon to speculate? This romantic comedy anime took the world by storm when it first aired on January 12, 2019, and amassed a hoard of dedicated fans. Based on a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Aka Akasaka, which has 19 million copies in circulation as of now, Kaguya-Sama was not only developed as an anime adaptation but also as two live-action films. Fans were left a little torn and confused when Kaguya-Sama: Love is War-The First Kiss That Never Ends, a film following the third season of the series, was announced and scheduled to release on December 17, 2022. The studio also clarified that this film would serve as a direct sequel to the third season, which makes the future of the fourth season uncertain. As of now, there is no release date for the fourth season since the studio is keeping pretty quiet about any potential developments. But fans must not lose hope, as there is an ample amount of material for making a fourth season in the near future.
Set in the prestigious Shuchiin Academy, which houses some of the most brilliant young students in Japan, it is a story full of love and hilarious moments. Student council president and vice president Miyuki Shirogane and Kaguya Shinomiya have developed feelings for one another, but their pride and narcissistic tendencies keep them from confessing to one another as it is seen as a sign of weakness. The story unfolds with the duo trying over-the-top schemes to get one another to confess first. If a fourth season eventually airs, we might see Miyuki and Kaguya put their egos aside and confess their feeling to one another, and start a proper relationship in the future.
It is expected that the original voice cast members will be returning for the fourth season as well. So we have Aoi Koga as the lead Kaguya Shinomiya, Makoto Furukawa as Miyuki Shirogane, Konomi Kohara as Chika Fujiwara, Yutaka Aoyama serves as the narrator and Ryouta Suzuki as Yu Ishigami. The previous season of this anime was directed by Shinichi Omata and was licensed by Aniplex and Muse Communication.
