Jordan Peele's 'Us' Sets New Box Office Record, Surpasses 'A Quiet Place' And 'The Nun'

Jordan Peele's latest film 'Us' recently released over the weekend and it is breaking records at the box office. After Peele made his directorial debut with 'Get Out', which earned over $225 million at the worldwide box office, the director has delivered yet another hit. The horror fans have been waiting for the release of the film ever since its trailer came out. 

The film had a $20 million budget but had the biggest opening at the box office for an original horror movie, grossing an estimated amount of $70.3 million, as reported by Business Insider. The film broke the previous record of the film 'A Quiet Place', which grossed over $340 million worldwide.

The film broke the records of not only 'A Quiet Place' but also 'Get Out' and 'The Nun'. The record-breaking film has made a mark becoming the part of the Universal releases that have topped the domestic box office. 

Even though the film had some competition with Marvel's 'Captain Marvel', the film still managed to do really good. The film is a psychological horror thriller with a mind-twisting plot created by the genius mind of Peele. The film follows a family that is set to go on a vacation which soon turns sinister after they meet their crazy-deadly doppelgangers. 

The synopsis of the film reads, "Accompanied by her husband, son, and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, the family is horrified to learn that each attacker takes the appearance of one of them." 

The fans are super satisfied with what they were waiting for and we only hope that we get more content like this from the director. Peele had recently even hinted an 'Us' universe to be in the making.
