Jim Carrey Rumored To Play Captain America Villain In Upcoming MCU Projects

Reports have been doing the rounds that the actor is set to appear in multiple Marvel films.

Jim Carrey

Yes, you heard that right. If rumors are to be believed, the supremely talented Jim Carrey is all set to join the Marvel Studios family. Reports suggest that the actor is set to play a major Marvel villain in the future of the franchise, as per We Got This Covered. It is worth noting that the comic book world is not foreign territory for Jim Carrey who has starred in The Mask and Batman Forever in the 1990s and Kick-Ass 2 back in 2013. The actor, who is now riding high on the success of his latest big-screen outing Sonic the Hedgehog, is reportedly joining the Marvel universe, apparently across multiple projects.

The report further adds that according to MCU rumors shared by the moderators of the Marvel Studios subreddit, as provided to them by an anonymous source, that Carrey has been cast to play none other than MODOK in a variety of Disney Plus series. The rumors further added that Jim Carrey could even make his debut as early as 2022’s She-Hulk. As much as we'd like to believe these rumors, they continue to be unverified, reports Latestly

A report by Comic Book News, based on the Reddit leaks, added that MODOK may appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. MODOK, an acronym for Mental/Mobile/Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing, is a supervillain, created by the villainous society Advanced Idea Mechanics (A.I.M.). As per villains fandom, "he used to be an A.I.M. scientist named George Tarleton but was forcibly mutated into a grotesque and horrific monster/machine both in appearance and attitude. A.I.M. originally wanted to use him as their weapon but he took over them instead. MODOK became a major reoccurring antagonist for both Captain America, agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Hulk, agent Sharon Carter, and even some villains such as Doctor Doom." Given how brilliantly Carrey played the Mask, it would be no doubt he would pull of MODOK with ease.

Jim Carrey will next be seen in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, releasing April 8, 2022.
