Find movie genre easily
Have you ever been frustrated by the search option and left frustrated from trying multiple searches to get a list of movies you want to see? Well, it appears there's a secret code corresponding to each genre, and searching for, say Romantic comedies, is as simple as entering a 4-digit code. There are codes even for sub-genres that can help you narrow down the movies and series you'd like to watch according to your mood. From anime to action, horror, and even sub-genres such as "Family-friendly Christmas films" can be narrowed in your search with a simple code. You can find the codes on Netflix-codes.

Monitor your data usage
A lot of people love to watch Netflix on their phones and when you're binge-watching an edge-of-the-seat thriller, time can pass pretty fast, and with it your cellular data. For those who use limited data, you can always ensure you don't keep your data within limits by lowering the data usage amount on your device. To do this, click on the "More" icon inside the app or on your profile. Click on App Settings and select Video Playback to select Cellular Data Usage. You can also set your download preferences to "Wi-Fi only," so you don't accidentally drain your cellular data by downloading content.

You can also tailor your video quality on all your devices so you can manage your data usage better. Open your profile and then select Playback Settings. You will be given four options: Auto (the default), Low (up to 0.3GB per hour), Medium (up to 0.7GB per hour), and High (3GB an hour for HD streams and 7GB for Ultra HD streaming). You can select what suits you best and save your settings for future use.

Control your video on a keyboard
For those who like to watch Netflix on their laptop or desktop, there's a host of shortcuts that can make your life easy. Some of the common go-to shortcuts are using the up and down arrow keys to increase and decrease the volume while using the left and right arrows to fast-forward or rewind by 10 seconds. You can pause your stream by hitting the spacebar and clicking 'M' to mute.

Enable Audio Description for narration
Netflix has the Audio Description function which helps visually-impaired viewers. Once you activate the feature, a voice describes what's happening on the screen including the character's facial expressions, clothing, scenery, and physical movements among other things. While not all titles on Netflix have the feature, a majority of Netflix originals do. You can turn on the feature by playing the video and then selecting the Dialog icon box which lists the languages in which Audio Description is available.

Love or hate subtitles?
Some can't do without subtitles, while some find it distracting from the action on screen. Whichever group you may fall under, you can customize your preference through subtitle settings on your profile page. Click on Subtitle Appearance to change the settings and then click Save. From font type to size and even text shadowing, you can customize the way you want subtitles.

You can use these amazing features and shortcuts to help improve your Netflix experience.
