Heartbreak High, which is a reboot of 1994 series that was first screened on Network Ten, has become a massive hit worldwide, and we are happy to announce that Netflix has officially renewed the Australian series for a second season. The teen drama is set in a fictitious school called Hartley High and its kids. The Show debuted on Netflix in September and quickly amassed 42.6 million hours of watch time in just three weeks since its launch. The show retained its position in the top 10 list of Australian Netflix and has reached the Top 10 list in over 43 different countries. Well, it feels good to say that the show successfully earned a second season. According to the Hollywood Reporter, it's been ordered, is in pre-production, and was renewed on October 19. It's no surprise as whoever indulged in the show loved it to the core. The critical success of the show left the producer overwhelmed. She said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "I had to step away from the internet for a few days because there was just so much coming in — particularly locally. But it’s all been phenomenal. We had a great critical response, which we were really happy about. But I’ve always got this fear in the back of my mind: 'critical success, a commercial failure."
It was recently reported that filming for the second season is set to begin on May 29th, 2023, and run through to Aug. 29, 2023.
The story revolves around Harper and Amerie, two high schoolers in Australia who have been friends since kindergarten! They are almost like sisters and engage in weird activities like drawing graffiti in abandoned alleys inside their school. Soon a turn of events unroll, and the two find themselves at the cusp of a broken friendship.
