Dane DeHaan originally played the villain in the 2014 movie 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'.

MCU’s Spider-Man franchise will soon see Tom Holland play the web-spinning superhero yet again for the third time. Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 will also see Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina reprise their roles as Electro and Doc Ock from the Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire Spider-Man series. Naturally, fans have been assuming that Dane DeHaan would return as the Green Goblin in the forthcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming 3 film. You might recall that the actor played the villain in Sony’s 2014 film The Amazing Spider-Man 2, directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield in the lead. But DeHaan's Green Goblin will not return, reports Screen Rant.

Dane DeHaan has put those rumors to rest. Talking to RadioTimes for his upcoming crime drama television show ZeroZeroZero, he said although he'd love to do a movie like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 again, it's not happening. “There’s no truth to those rumors. I don’t even know how that would be pulled off. I would certainly love to make some kind of movie like that again. I like making superhero movies or in that kind of world and I’m sure I’ll find myself in that world again. And I have no idea what they’re doing with the Spider-Man movies now, but I don’t really understand a world in which that would be possible,” he said.

As for the actors that are returning, it seems both fans and cast members are happy to have them on board. Spider-Man 3 star Zendaya had some kind words for her co-star Alfred Molina who as we mentioned is playing Otto Octavious in the upcoming sequel. In Variety’s Actors on Actors, Zendaya said, “He is so nice, by the way.” As for how she ventured into the franchise, she revealed that she actually didn’t know she was auditioning for the part of MJ, according to Comic Book. "We weren’t supposed to know that the script pages that we were reading were for Spider-Man, but I did find out that it was for Spider-Man cause I have good agents," Zendaya explained to GQ.

"But I didn’t know what role I was auditioning for. I just thought it was 'girl in Spider-Man movie.' I didn’t really know what character, or what kind of character, they would be. Right before the screen test, they were kind of saying okay these are the characters that we’re reading for, MJ being one of them and I was like 'Oh, that would be so cool!'" It'll be interesting to see both new and old characters on screen and fans are surely going to be hit with bouts of nostalgia with Spider-Man: Homecoming 3. Can't wait to see the mixed cast together in the next film!

Marvel's Spider-Man 3 is scheduled to be out in theatres on December 17 this year.
