Elizabeth Olsen

Long before she became the center of the superhero universe as Scarlet Witch following the release of Disney plus' 'WandaVision', Elizabeth Olsen has lived in the shadows of her famous sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

Numerous instances had led her to quit acting in the past, but just as the cliché goes: no one can run from his/her destiny.

Now, the younger Olsen has finally stepped back into the light to share her talent for the world to see.

Here are all the interesting facts you may not know about Elizabeth Olsen.

1. Her Sisters' Fame Made Her Decide To Temporarily Quit Acting When She Was Young

When Elizabeth Olsen was 10, she decided to retire from show business, at least until she was old enough.

The actress is well aware of the pressure at a young age, and she didn't want people to tell her that she just got into the business because her sisters are already there.

"My parents made me write down a pros and cons list. And the cons just piled up. So I figured I'd keep acting as a hobby until I was older. Because I felt that pressure, and that people would say, 'Oh, that's nepotism," the actress told The Guardian back in 2012.

Elizabeth is well aware of her value and she is confident to say that she was not handed projects just because of her sisters.

"I decided that as long as I felt confident and worked hard for it, instead of having it handed to me, no one could take that away from me. I don't have any insecurity about it. I never got any job because of my sisters. I could have pulled a few strings through them, but I never needed to."

2. She Struggled With The Idea Of Nepotism Growing Up

Growing up in the shadows of your successful older siblings can be very frustrating. Although the younger Olsen has nothing but love for her older sisters, she admits it wasn't so easy to deal with other people's opinions when she was young.

"I couldn’t walk in a room without everyone already having an opinion. The thing about nepotism is the fear that you don’t earn or deserve the work. There was even a part of me when I was a little girl that thought if I’m gonna be an actress I’m going to go by Elizabeth Chase, which is my middle name," the actress said via Good Housekeeping.

3. Fame Doesn't Make Her Feel Special

Elizabeth doesn't understand why people think that working in front of the camera is so extraordinary.

"I never thought about working on movies or television as something super-special that all these super-special people get to do. Neither did my sisters, and they were on camera from the age of a year old onwards (both played the youngest child on the 1987-95 network hit Full House)," Elizabeth told The Guardian.

In a separate interview, the actress revealed that her pet peeve is actors who think they are the most important person in the room.

"Sometimes, I can’t stand the bullshit of actors,” she says. “You know\where they’re more interested in “getting in the zone” (she says this in an affected Zoolander-esque voice) than they are about showing up and doing their job and remembering that film is a group activity. When you’re an actor, it’s not about you, it’s about a team.”

4. The Media Frenzy Over Her Sister Mary- Kate’s Eating Disorder Made Her Hate Becoming A Public Figure Even More

Paparazzi can sometimes be vultures that feed on the suffering of others, especially public figures. When Mary- Kate suffered from Anorexia in 2004, Elizabeth saw how her sisters battled with the abusive coverage. The incident made her want to have nothing to do with the industry anymore.

"That was when the media was what I found to be abusive to my sisters, and I thought I really didn't want to be in the industry," she told E! "They turned 18 and what was going on in her life—I'm talking about Mary-Kate—was all over the news. They would follow us shopping and [Mary-Kate and Ashley] would almost get into car accidents because of the paparazzi, and I didn't want to be a pat of it. I just thought, This is such bulls--t."

5. She Changed Her Name In High School So No One Would Know She Is The Younger Sister Of The Olsen Twins

Fame is a double-edged sword, it may open doors to wonderful opportunities, but it can also open the gates to unwanted attention. Elizabeth Olsen is well aware of the consequences of fame, which is why she went by the name “Elizabeth Chase" in high school so no one would know that the famous Olsen Twins are her sisters.

Her full name is  Elizabeth Chase Olsen. An IMDB trivia claims that her mother named her Elizabeth Chase so she would "chase after her sisters".

Elizabeth Olsen is unlike other Hollywood stars, who leverage social media to gain more fame.

7. She's An Athiest

At a young age, Elizabeth Olsen is already well aware of extensive matters such as faith and religion that children of her age do not bother to think about. She is also not hesitant to share her thoughts about it.

"When I was 13, I told my parents I didn’t believe in God any more,” she told CAROLINE RYDER.

“I wanted to be an atheist because I believed that religion should be about community and having a place to go in prayer, not something that should determine women’s freedoms.”

8. She Loves Auditions

By the time she's embraced acting again, Elizabeth finds an uncanny comfort in auditions.

To some actors, auditions are worse than working on the production itself. The scrutiny is often too much to bear, the pressure almost impossible to handle.

However, Elizabeth Olsen has a different perspective when it comes to auditions.

"I'm the kind of theatre person who loves auditions – I really do – whereas for a lot of actors it's just a nightmare, all nerves and panic. Me, I just love to watch everyone sizing each other up, warily looking around the room to feel out the competition, how people's faces look when they go in and then come out of the room," she told The Guardian.

9. She's A Team Person

Elizabeth is obsessed with working on a team. She and her siblings share a close bond, and she figured out that their initials spell TEAM so she always buys little souvenirs that will remind them of that.

“When I was in sixth grade, I realized that mine and my siblings’ fist initials spelled the word TEAM. T-rent, E-lizabeth, A-shley, and M-ary Kate. So I bought us all little trinkets that said TEAM, so we could always remember that," Elizabeth said in an interview.

The same love for working in teams led her to enjoy working in movies. “all these weird people that probably shouldn’t ever be in a room together, who have to work together and get one thing done…it’s the best.”

Some of Elizabeth's Hollywood blockbuster movies are 'Avengers: Age of Ultron', 'Captain America: Civil War', 'Avengers: Infinity War', 'Avengers: End Game', 'Godzilla', and 'Silent House'.
