The new release date was officially declared at the Anime Expo 2019. According to the big reveal, one can expect to see the much-awaited show to finally hit the screens on August 15, 2019.
It is indeed rare to come across an anime TV web series that wins on two fronts: an amazing storyline and spectacular production. 'Cannon Busters' is one such show that does double duty, hence making it rare and worthy of watching. In 2005, it was first published as a comic book and was a creative story that was halfway between Japanese manga and classic American comic book. LeSean Thomas, who happens to be the co-creator of the series, started a crowdfunding campaign in 2014 for the series to get adapted into an animated series. Soon, after the anime adaptation was released, the show was picked up for a 12-episode by Netflix and the first season was released in 2017. The show was welcomed by the fans and they liked the way it was constructed, so they ever since then, fans have been waiting for the second installment of the anime show, to know what happens next. Here is everything we know so far.
Earlier, it was reported that 'Cannon Busters' was originally expected to release on Netflix sometime in March 2019. However, soon fans realized that March has crossed and it didn't arrive on the announced date without having any clue or explanation for the no show. However, at the end of May, Animation Magazine announced it to the world that the series will be coming to everyone's screen in late 2019, and not when it was earlier announced. The new release date was made public at Anime Expo 2019, and according to that revelation, we can expect to see the most awaited show to finally hit the screen on August 15, 2019.
As per the description mentioned on the official site of 'Cannon Busters', the show is described as:
“Follow the adventures and exploits of S.A.M, a high-end, royal-class friendship droid who’s joined by a quirky, discarded maintenance robot and a brash, deadly fugitive. Together, the unlikely trio embarks on an unforgettable journey in a fantastic and dangerous world in search of S.A.M’s best friend, the heir to a powerful kingdom under siege.”
The cast to have been zeroed in on is exciting as we learned that Angelique Perrin has been roped in, to a part of the series. She is an American actress, writer and is best known for lending her voice to the character of Jedi Master Adi Gallia on George Luca's animated series, 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars'. She has also worked on 'Rugrats All Grown Up!' and 'Doc McStuffins'. Perrin will be giving her voice for S.A.M, who is a lost android and the main character of the show. Along with Angelique, we will see Elizabeth Maxwell as Casey Turnbuckle and Kevin Grevioux as Big Bull as other cast members.
Behind the camera, LeSean Thomas is the creator and brainchild behind 'Cannon Busters'. He is famous for his works like ‘The Boondocks’ on Adult Swim, for which he was the Co-Director (Season 1) and Supervising Character Designer (Season 1&2) and Nickelodeon's 'The Legend Of Korra' (Book 1) for which he was the storyboard/production artist. His recent work includes the role of Creative Producer (Season 1) and Supervising Director (Season 1&2) for 'Black Dynamite: The Animated Series' on Adult Swim.
Even though we do not have an official trailer from Netflix, the pilot released to Kickstarter backers came along with a trailer that showed many adventures and fun for the show's lovable characters S.A.M. who happens to be the most adorable character of the show.
