Will Poppin'Party's music journey continue to season 4?
This article was recently reviewed and is up to date as of March 4, 2021.
If there is one thing that made the Japanese anime BanG Dream! so successful, it is their choice of music.
What started as a manga turned into a string of highly profitable projects, including anime television series, singles and albums, live concerts, and mobile games.
BanG Dream! (also known as Bandori!) follows Kasumi Toyama and her friends on their musical journey as an all-girl band called Poppin'Party.
The anime series' performance became even better as time goes by, with season 3 becoming undeniably the best season for the anime series so far.
So let's go straight to the question: Will there be season 4?
Let's find out.
The last episode of season 3 aired a few months ago in 2020, and there are still no season 4 announcements as of this writing.
However, there are a couple of things that led us to believe that season 4 is happening.
First, the anime franchise has become so popular with its live performances it managed to rack millions of total music sales (and counting). The anime even has a mobile game app with over 1 million downloads on the play store.
Hence, canceling the anime series would be an extremely bad idea for the business.
Second, the show had improving reviews in the later season, thanks to some of the best original songs and the well-written storylines.
Third, we saw a mysterious adult female we've never met before in the final moments of season 3. Our instincts are telling us that this character will have some significant role in the future of the anime series, or it would be silly to introduce her with no context at all, so we're keeping our fingers crossed.
We will keep you posted with updates in the future.
There is still no official season 4 confirmations as of this writing, so all we could do now is guess the next season's release date based on the previous seasons' schedules.
The past three seasons all dropped their first episode in January (from 2017-2020, respectively). If the production of the anime series were able to continue amid the Coronavirus pandemic, then we are likely to see season 4 in about a few months this year.
We will keep you posted with the updates.
BanG Dream! follows Kasumi Toyama, a young, optimistic girl who's in search of "Star Beat," a "sparkling, heart-pounding" feeling she experienced while looking at the stars when she was a child.
She discovers a star-shaped guitar with glittery stickers in the pawnshop of her friend, and when she held it, she felt the "star beat" she's been looking for.
Convinced that she's found her passion, she recruits her friends, and they form an all-female band named Poppin'Party.
In the final episode of Season 3, we saw Poppin'Party enter the finals of the Girls Band Challenge alongside Roselia and Raise A Suilen.
The past three seasons chronicles the journey of Kasumi Toyama and her friends as they worked towards achieving their dreams, one beautiful song at a time.
If season 4 ensues, we are expecting to see the girls chase even bigger dreams and pursue their music. Although the girl's high school life didn't affect much of the storyline, it is possible for season 4 to take a different approach and explore the girls' other dreams as they move closer to college.
BanG Dream! Season 4 is not confirmed yet, so we still don't have an official trailer. In the meantime, here is season 3's official trailer for you.
