We've waited six-long years for this.

It's been over half a decade but fans are still waiting for a continuation of Kou and Futaba's story in 'Ao Haru Ride' anime adaptation series.
Also known as 'Blue Spring Ride', 'Ao Haru Ride' is based on a Japanese shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Io Sakisaka. The anime adaptation was produced by Production I.G. and released in 2014.
Let's find out whether the anime series is still coming back for more.
Here is what we know so far.
Despite popular demand, the critically acclaimed shoujo anime is yet to secure a season 2 renewal from Production I.G.
The series is not canceled either, so some fans are still choosing to cling to that glimmer of hope despite not hearing about season 2 renewal in a long time.
The delay in the renewal could be due to the lack of source material to promote.
Anime series are used to market and drive sales to the manga or light novel series where the show is based. The formula is simple. The more popular an anime series is, the more manga gets sold.
Although there are still a lot of chapters left to cover for season 2, the manga and novel have which the show is based already ended serialization in 2015. So perhaps, there is no longer a reason to bring the series back.
The first season ended in a bit of a cliffhanger, so fans have been demanding for the show to return. Unfortunately, Production I.G. is yet to answer their call.
The anime series is still waiting for season 2 renewal, so we can't give an expected release date.
It's been six long years since the anime series premiered, but Production I.G. seems to have no interest in picking it up.
The anime series released in July 2014, and still has not secured a renewal, leading us to believe that it might no longer come back.
But there is still hope!
We've seen older anime series getting renewed in the past after being picked up by another studio.
If there are enough petition and support from fans, other studios might get interested in producing 'Ao Haru Ride' season 2.
'Ao Haru Ride' follows the story of Futaba Yoshioka and Kou Mabuchi.
The two went to the same high school and fell in love with each other.
However, they both carry personal issues that got in a way with their happiness and relationship.
There's plenty of material left to cover the anime series if it gets renewed for season 2.
'Ao Haru Ride' manga series had a total of thirteen volumes between 2011 and 2015. The 13-episode anime adaptation only covered the plot of the first four manga volumes (till Chapter 14).
Given season 1's cliffhanging conclusion, season 2 is likely to adapt the remaining volumes (again, assuming it gets renewed).
