The show was renewed for the fourth season which was confirmed to be the final season of the show as well. "Goliath has been one of our most popular shows ever on Prime Video, and we’re so thankful to Billy Bob, Larry, Geyer, Jennifer, Steve, and the entire Goliath team for bringing this series to life," Vernon Sanders, the co-head of television at Amazon Studios had said in a statement. "We’re happy that our customers around the world will have a chance to see Billy McBride bring this final chapter to a close on Prime Video next year."
Showrunner Lawrence Trilling added, "I’m thrilled we get another season to tell Billy McBride’s story. Our latest case tackles a timely global crisis that impacts an entire generation, and we will be adding some exceptional talent to our already amazing cast. I’m so grateful to everyone at Amazon for their support of the show. Jennifer, Steve, and Geyer have been dream partners, Billy Bob is a constant inspiration, and I’ve been blessed to work with a stellar cast and crew."
There will not be another season of Goliath. Billy Bob Thorton who plays the lead role told Newsweek that he had signed up for the series for four seasons from the very beginning. The story was spread out across only four seasons from the get-go. "I hope viewers really appreciate that there is a lovely completion with her," Nina Arianda said of her character Patty Solis-Papagian. "This season is the first time that she really owns her own abilities and talents, and is pretty unapologetic for it." Tania Raymonde who played Brittany Gold said of her character: "I probably judged Brittany a little bit when I first met her because I thought 'okay, well she's a hot stuff, saucy escort and she kind of does her thing' but she's defied expectations every single time."
But there is a possibility that there can be a spin-off series based on the characters of the series. There have been talks that Brittany may just get her own series. Raymonde has already expressed that she would love to take on the role. She added, "I think you could spin off any character on the show. I would love to see like a Brittany Patty spin-off or a Marva spin-off. Or see what the hell Brittany was doing before she began in Season 1 with Billy. Oh, you're gonna make me cry. Why are you offering me a job?" So there is still potential for the world of Goliath to come back in the future.
