'Castlevania' showrunner Adi Shankar is creating multiple seasons of 'Devil May Cry' animated series.

Following the success of 'Castlevania,' showrunner Adi Shankar is returning with another anticipated animated series based on the video game series by Capcom, 'Devil May Cry.'

The animated project was first announced in 2018 and will finally move to season one production next year.

Writer Alex Larsen is on board to write the story and scripts. Larsen is best known for his work on several episodes of Netflix's Yasuke anime.

This upcoming 'Devil May Cry' animated series is not a continuation of the 12-episode DMC anime series released way back in 2007 and released by Studio Madhouse.

We are talking about a brand new animated series created by Shankar. Shankar acquired the animation rights for the DMC IP back in 2018 "so that the jabronies in Hollywood can't f**k this one up too."

Here are the early details about Adi Shankar's 'Devil May Cry' season 2, including release date predictions and more.

Is 'Devil May Cry' Renewed For Season 2?

Yes, 'Devil May Cry' is already renewed for season 2.

The confirmation came long before the first season of the anime entered production. Showrunner Adi Shankar is already planning to expand the reboot into a "multi-season arc."

The first season will include eight episodes, which means that season 2 will begin with the 9th episode of the anime.

Shankar will be working closely with Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who worked on the original video game, 'Devil May Cry' 4, and the 2007 'Devil May Cry' anime. Kobayashi also worked on video games and anime in the 'Resident Evil' series.

When Will' Devil May Cry' Season 2 Release?

There is still no release date for the first and second seasons of the 'Devil May Cry' animated series.

Shankar revealed to IGN in November 2021 that they had finished writing the script for the first season.

"The season 1 scripts are done," Shankar told IGN. "They are rad. I could not be more excited."

The publication also said that production for the first season of the anime will begin in 2022. That means that we might not see season 1 until late that year or in early 2023. Shankar's other Netflix animated project, 'Castlevania,' usually takes a one-year gap before releasing new seasons. If 'Devil May Cry' will follow the same schedule, then season 2 might release in 2023 or 2024.

"The entire team, both from the management side and the creative side, have been so incredibly supportive and gracious. Kobayashi-san has been wonderful," Shankar told IGN.

"It's seriously a joy to work with Capcom. Their character library is unlike anything assembled."

The animateed 'Devil May Cry' series will release on Netflix.

What Is The Plot Of 'Devil May Cry' Season 2?

The plot for 'Devil May Cry' season 2 remains under wraps as of the moment. The first season has not even entered production yet. So we cannot predict where the story will go for season 2.

Shankar explained that 'Devil May Cry' "will join Castlevania in what we're now calling the bootleg multiverse."

How Many Episodes Will' Devil May Cry' Season 2 Have?
