The Harry Potter franchise is one of the biggest and most famous franchises in the world and recent reports suggest that a tv series based on it might be in works.
It has been almost nine years since the Harry Potter films ended, the last one being 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2'. After this series, the world continued to be enchanted with the wizarding world upon the release of the Fantastic Beasts series. Even though the entire Harry Potter franchise has managed to maintain its presence in pop culture in recent years, the latest reports suggest that there is a possibility that the franchise can expand further with additional stories.
Apparently, the Warner Bros studio is in the very early stages of developing a Harry Potter TV show for its latest streaming service. From what we have understood is that if this piece of news is true and a show does get made, it will most likely be a prequel that will center mostly around Hogwarts and around parts of Europe. The plot details of the show are being kept very guarded, but so far, it is expected that the show will feature all-new characters and the only connection it will have with the movies is that it is being set in the same universe, along with the books too.
But, that is all we know about the Harry Potter series for now and going by the knowledge that the project is in the very early stages of development, it is not expected that we will hear anything concrete for quite some time. But, it is nothing but good news for Potter fans who have been craving to see more of the wizarding world, since the 'Fantastic Beasts' series has been somewhat underwhelming.
The third installment of the 'Fantastic Beasts' series starring Eddie Redmayne as Magizoologist Newt Scamander has been delayed from its initial release date from November 2020 to November 2021. The filming of the movie will start next spring, so it is expected that we will learn something about this movie sooner rather than later. As for the planned Harry Potter series, it definitely sounds like an interesting prospect and also makes sense that the studio will take up this opportunity given the fact that that they’ll want their streaming service to be able to compete with Netflix, Disney Plus, etc., but it is still in its very early stages from what we have learned, but keep an eye out for this space for any latest updates regarding this news.
