Fox announced 9-1-1 was renewed for a season 6 in mid-May. The show follows the professional and personal lives of the members of a fictional station of the L.A. Fire Department and a 9-1-1 call center. 9-1-1 originally premiered in 2018 and is a first responder-based procedural series. Variety reports the Ryan Murphy-produced first-responder drama features Angela Bassett as Field Sergeant Athena Grant, Peter Krause as Capt. Bobby Nash, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Maddie Kendall, Oliver Stark as Evan “Buck” Buckley, Aisha Hinds as Hen Wilson, Kenneth Choi as Chimney Han, Ryan Guzman as Eddie Diaz, Corinne Massiah as May Grant, Marcanthonee Jon Reis as Harry Grant and Gavin McHugh as Christopher Diaz.

Oliver Stark who plays Buck on the show shared a sweet post on Instagram celebrating the news of the upcoming season. While hugging costar Aisha Hinds, who portrays Hen, actor Ryan Guzman, a.k.a. Eddie, can be seen jokingly pointing at the two. "We’re not going anywhere. See you for Season 6 @911onfox 🎉🥳🍾," he captioned the Instagram photos.

9-1-1 has held solid ratings over the years and has received a  positive critical response throughout its five-season run. Stark's character has been quite popular among fans as well. The British actor told PEOPLE, "Playing this character has been such a lovely experience for me, especially because I feel like our lives are kind of mirroring each other. Even if we go back to season 1, when he was just joining the firehouse and kind of finding himself. It was a very transformative time for me as well, being a part of a new show, and my first time really being such a big part of a show, so we've kind of grown together throughout the seasons. I feel extremely connected to the character — and that means all the trauma that he is going through. There's certainly a level of me having to process that at the same time, and it's just been a really quite cathartic experience for me."

The 31-year-old also opened up about how the character inspires him.  "I like to think that I'm much braver now, because Buck is so incredibly brave and always puts himself on the line for other people," he shared before adding, "Thankfully, that hasn't been tested, but I like to assume that I now have some of that in me, and if something happens, I would be the person with a plan and spring into action. And aside from his work, I think just his openness and the fact that he does wear his heart on his sleeve, I do feel like I have become more in touch with myself through playing him."
