Need a distraction for the day? Want to get lost in a great show? Maybe something funny... or something moving. Somehow a lot of us prefer watching TV shows to movies. We love elaborate plotlines and characters with depth. Even if we can finish an entire TV show in one sitting, it's somehow so much more rewarding than an almost two-hour film. If you don't want to watch a lengthy, drawn-out TV show but still want to invest in the characters, we have a bunch of shows with shorter episodes so you can watch the whole season in a day. Do note a lot of them are comedies, but there are a bunch of dramas as well.

Here's a list of shows that you can binge-watch in under 24 hours.

1. Fleabag

Two six-episode seasons: that's it! But the story and the characters will stay with you. Phoebe Waller-Bridge is incredible as both a writer and a performer on this funny and heartfelt show. We enjoyed the second season the best, with the introduction of "Hot Priest", of course.

2. Chewing Gum

Oh gosh, how hilarious is this show. We LOVE Michaela Coel. Such a funny, incredible performer as well as writer. The British sitcom is similar to Fleabag in some ways but is way, way underrated. Her character Tracey Gordon tries to discover who she really is in the midst of a sexual awakening while living in her Nigerian mother's strictly evangelical Christian household. The show also has two six-episode seasons only.

3. I May Destroy You

Another gem from Michaela Coel again. This one is a lot deeper and darker and was one of the most talked-about shows last year. The 12-episode series is partially based on Coel's own experience with sexual assault.

4.  Russian Doll

This show with just 8 episodes is pretty unique with the story of Nadia, a woman who keeps dying and reliving her 36th birthday party! Natasha Lyonne is so great to watch on screen. A second season is coming soon.

5. Bridgerton

The most talked-about show this year! This period romance with 8 episodes has a sizzling on-screen pair with Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) striking up a fake courtship with the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page) and falling in love with him.

6. Gentleman Jack

Gentleman Jack is about a female landowner, played by Suranne Jones, who tries to restore her estate and pursue Ann Walker (Sophia Rundle) in 1832 Yorkshire. The 8-episode series is based on the true story of Anne Lister.

7. Never Have I Ever

A fun teen series with so much diverse representation! Co-created by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, Never Have I Ever follows 15-year-old Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) as she navigates through issues at school and home. The 10 episodes seem to fly by as you binge.

8. Unbelievable

This powerful show is a difficult watch at times. It is based on a true story of detectives investigating a serial rapist. Merritt Wever, Toni Collette, and Kaitlyn Dever give incredible performances in this 8-part series.

9. Ted Lasso

This heartwarming comedy has one 10-episode season that tells the story of an American football coach, hired to work with a struggling English Premier League team, despite having no experience coaching soccer.

10. The Queen's Gambit

This competitive chess period drama with just 7 episodes is great for its costumes and Anya Taylor-Joy's performance as orphaned prodigy Beth Harmon.

11. A Teacher

A Teacher is an American drama television miniseries created by Hannah Fidell based on her film of the same name. It is a complicated, heartbreaking story of how a teacher (Kate Mara) and her student (Nick Robinson) develop a harmful relationship and the resulting consequences for both of them and those around them.

12. Good Omens

Good Omens follows frenemies Aziraphale (an angel) and Crowley (a demon) as they try to prevent the apocalypse in this 6-episode show. It is based on the novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman and features Michael Sheen and David Tennant.

13. Julie and the Phantoms

This 9-episode show with each episode about 30 minutes follows a teen girl who forms a band with the ghosts of her late mother's bandmates. The show is full of infectious musical numbers and an endearing cast.

14. Bonding

This raunchy show revolves around a New-York based dominatrix and her gay best friend. Their professional relationship redefines their friendship, but more importantly, helps them find themselves. Each episode in the series runs under 20 minutes making it an easy show to binge-watch. We enjoyed the second season more than the first.

15. The End of the F***ing World

This quirky show has 16 short episodes across two seasons. It's a story of two troubled teens who go on the run and end up finding themselves in outrageous situations. It's dark, funny but also quite moving.
