Zoe Kravitz Has Been Officially Cast As Catwoman In Robert Pattinson's The Batman

Zoe Kravitz will now join her stepdad Jason Momoa in the DC Universe as she will be suiting up as Catwoman in the upcoming Batman movie.

The upcoming Batman film has fans on the fence. First Robert Pattinson was cast as Batman and now we have a new casting just as surprising. Big Little Lies star and daughter of Lenny Kravitz, Zoe Kravitz has been cast as Catwoman in Matt Reeves' The Batman, per Entertainment Weekly.

This is definitely very surprising news but Zoe Kravitz isn't actually new to playing Catwoman. If you can recall, she played the role of Selina Kyle in The Lego Batman Movie.

After the news became popular, former Catwoman, Anne Hathaway congratulated the young actress on her upcoming role in a Facebook post:

"The biggest congrats to Zoë Kravitz on landing the role of a lifetime. Well, one life anyway...⁣⁣Enjoy the ride, Selina 💋"

The congratulations didn't end there. Zoe's step-dad and DC superstar Jason Momoa took to Instagram to dish out best wishes to his "zozo bear":

"I’m so proud of u zozo bear. On and off screen OHANA. DC WB ohana Lola and Wolfies big sister is CAT WOMAN😍😍😍 Unbelievable so freaking stoked. Your going to have so much fun Aloha P bear"

Matt Reeves has yet to directly confirm the news but following the reports, he posted a gif of Zoe Kravitz saying "Hello" on his Twitter. It seems like a confirmation to me.

Zoe Kravitz was definitely a surprising choice especially as Alicia Vikander, Zazie Beetz and Eiza Gonzalez were contenders. I would have personally loved to see Eiza Gonzalez as Selina Kyle but sometimes you can't always get what you want.

Zoe Kravitz does have the personality to play Catwoman and I am all for it. She just wouldn't have been my first choice among the list. There is still a lot of casting news to come but at the moment we don't have much.

Zoe Kravitz is currently best known for her role in Big Little Lies but she does have a very extensive portfolio of big-budget movies such as Mad Max: Fury Road and the Fantastic Beasts series.

The Batman is expected to begin filming late 2019 or early 2020 and is expected to hit theaters on June 25th, 2021.
