Joe and Love try to put behind their murderous past to start a family life in a posh suburban neighborhood. However, the family life doesn't suit our favorite toxic couple.
We knew it. Joe and married life just do not mix, like oil and water. The third season of 'You' finally arrived on Netflix, and we get to witness daddy Joe as he strives to live a different life with his son Henry, and equally deranged wife, Love.
The murderer couple started a new life in a posh neighborhood, complete with a white picket fence and picturesque garden. However, not even the suburban homes can keep Joe's stalking tendencies, and Love's murderer urges in check. By the end of season 3, we see Joe, once again, living a bachelor's life in Paris.
So where did Love and baby Henry go? Here is what happened in 'You' season 3.
Joe and Love move into a posh suburban neighborhood of Linda Madre with their baby, Henry. Not long after they settled, Joe notices their next-door neighbor, Natalie. He begins subtly flirting with Natalie, but Love eventually notices it and kills her. The murder later gets pinned on a local man.
Joe realizes that every woman who catches his attention will be in grave danger from his jealous wife. The two attempted to fix their marriage by attending couple's therapy. For a moment, their relationship gained some stability.
However, it is just a matter of time before Joe's tendencies arise. Six months later, Joe gets infatuated with his boss Merienne. They began to grow closer while working together at the library. Joe tries desperately to control his feelings, fearing that Love might end up killing Merienne, too.
Meanwhile, Nathalie's husband, Matthew, continues to investigate the murder of his wife. He suspects that Love has something to do with it. Love seduces Matthew's teenage son, Theo, so she can spy on Matthew and find out how much he knows.
Love and Joe eventually realize that counseling will not work for them. They decide to join their neighbors Sherry and Cary in a group-lovemaking session. But the possessive Love cannot endure watching Joe get intimate with another woman. In the heat of the moment, she reveals that she killed Natalie.
Afraid that their secret will spread out, Joe and Love imprison their neighbors in the basement of Love’s Bakery. They leave Sherry and Cary a gun with the instruction that they will release the one who will kill the other.
Joe's feelings for his boss Merienne develop much deeper. The two decided to elope. Joe goes back to his home to have dinner with Love for one last time, unaware that his wife already knows about his adultery. Halfway through the meal, Joe realizes that Love knows about his secret. Love grabs a knife and decides to attack Joe.
The knife was coated in sedative, and Joe fell on the ground, seemingly paralyzed.
However, Joe was fine after all. When Love bends down to finish him, Joe counters the attack and swiftly injects Love with the very same poison she had used on him.
Love slips into a coma and lies on the floor, dead. With Love gone, Joe starts doing his usual clean-up routine. He arranged the crime scene to tie Love with Natalie's murder. He even threw some of his toes to the meat pie in the oven to make it seem like he also died.
He finishes the whole setup with a letter addressed to the local community in Madre Linda, from Love, admitting to the crimes she made and forcing Joe to participate in them. Joe then turns on the gas on the stove, then sets the house on fire. He made sure to leave just enough evidence so people would conclude he died, giving him a chance to start fresh somewhere else.
Joe has finally realized that married life is not for him. He decided to leave baby Henry to his co-worker Dante and his partner, which was a much better option since the two had been struggling to adopt a child. Dante and his partner will surely give Henry a much more loving home.
As for Sherry and Cary, the two managed to escape the doomed glass box that lived in the basement at Love's bakery. They only heard Love's confession about killing Natalie, so they are likely to believe Joe's plot.
Meanwhile, Theo also escaped death after getting a brief affair with Love. Bewitched by Love, Theo first thought that Joe was the bad guy. However, it was Love who attacked him while Joe took him to the hospital. So, he will likely corroborate with Joe's story and accept the whole setup with no question.
Season 3 ends with Joe starting a new life. After leaving everything behind, Joe is now in Paris. He orders a fancy coffee in a fancy Parisian coffee shop, ready to look for his new YOU.
'You' season four already received the green light from Netflix. So, we will surely see our favorite stalker back in his new adventures in Paris, soon.
Despite desperate efforts to resist his feelings, Joe and Merienne eventually fell in love with each other. Joe kills Merienne's ex-husband and then plans to run away with her.
However, Love discovers his plan. After paralyzing Joe, Love calls Merienne over and tells her about his murders. Merienne then understands the truth about her ex-husband's mysterious murder. Love initially planned to kill Merienne, too. But when her young daughter Juliette enters the room, Love changes her mind.
Merienne survived in the end, but she and Joe did not end up together. After faking his death, Joe tries to track down Merienne but is unsuccessful. The third season ends with Joe still hoping to see her again one day.
We cannot wait for season 4 to find out if their paths will cross again or if Joe will find a new subject to his obsession.
