As fans eagerly await the next installment of the Wonder Woman series, recent comments from Gal Gadot might not be enough to spark celebrations just yet. The anticipation was stirred when Gal Gadot hinted at the development of Wonder Woman 3 by stating that James Gunn and Peter Safran had expressed their commitment to bringing the third Wonder Woman movie to life. However, a fresh report, as revealed by Variety, paints a different picture.

Contrary to Gadot's remarks, insiders at DC Studios, as per Variety's sources, indicate that Wonder Woman 3 is not currently in development. The report further clarifies that James Gunn and Peter Safran, the acclaimed duo, are not in the process of crafting any form of Wonder Woman project within the scope of the new DC Universe. While the Paradise Lost prequel series for Max has been officially announced, there seems to be no concrete plan for a third Wonder Woman movie at this point.

Before the stewardship of DC Studios was assumed by Gunn and Safran, initial blueprints did include a third installment for the Wonder Woman series. In this envisioned sequel, Patty Jenkins would have returned to the director's chair. Yet, it's been reported that this project didn't align with the current strategic direction.

Gal Gadot's optimism about the potential Wonder Woman sequel was echoed in her remarks to Flaunt Magazine, where she shared her insights about a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran.

She said: “I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran [co-chairperson and CEO of DC alongside Gunn] and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”

However, insiders have revealed that there were no promises made to Gadot regarding Wonder Woman 3 and that no concrete discussions had taken place about her portrayal of Wonder Woman in the evolving DC Universe.

While the status of Wonder Woman 3 remains uncertain, one thing seems clear: Wonder Woman will continue to be an integral part of the new DC Universe in the future. Whether Gal Gadot will continue to don the iconic role remains to be seen. For now, the focus of James Gunn and Peter Safran is set on the projects they have officially announced.

As we await the potential return of Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot enthusiasts can see her in "Heart of Stone." This action-packed thriller features Gadot as Agent Rachel Stone, a pivotal intelligence operative tasked with safeguarding her organization's most valuable and hazardous asset, known as "The Heart." The film is now available to stream on Netflix.

While the wait for Wonder Woman 3 continues, Gadot's multifaceted roles keep fans engaged, and the evolving landscape of the DC Universe holds the promise of exciting developments on the horizon.
