Woman Births Twins After One-Night Stand As Morning After Pill Didn’t Work For Little Known Reason

Despite taking an emergency contraceptive pill, 29-year-old Holly Firth claimed she was in “utter shock” when she discovered she was pregnant.

The new mother who had twins after the morning after pill didn’t work for her is warning other women about its limitations.

Even though her pregnancy was a huge surprise, Holly Firth wouldn’t trade it for anything right now and feels that it was “meant to be.”

The 29-year-old revealed that back in July of last year, while attending a family friend’s wedding, she had a one-night encounter with a fellow guest.

The next day, she went to buy the morning after pill, and she claims that until a few weeks later, she “thought nothing more” about her surprise meeting.

Holly’s concerns were heightened when the fragrance of an air freshener at work started to make her queasy, so she got a pregnancy test for herself.

You can image her astonishment when she went to an eight-week check and found out she was having twins. She was told she was expecting to her “utter shock.”

On February 27, Holly gave birth to her twins, Charlotte and Rose, during a scheduled cesarean section.

“When I found out I was pregnant, I burst into tears. It was just utter shock,” the Ayrshire, Scotland-based bank employee said of her spontaneous journey into motherhood.

“I was single and I didn’t know the guy. I remember going out for dinner that night with my mum and dad and saying to them that it meant double the love.

“I knew from then that it was meant to be.”

Although the new mother claims that the “door will always be open” if he wishes to get in touch in the future, Holly is raising the kids alone because their father has decided to stay out of the picture.

She clarified that despite her lifelong ambition of becoming a mother, she had come to terms with the possibility that she could never have children because she had “been single for so long.”

She said the morning after pill has ‘never failed’ her before and she planned to take it as a precaution after her amorous relationship with the wedding guest.

She was unaware, however, that the medication, which can prevent pregnancy if taken three to five days after intercourse, might occasionally be useless.

It functions by postponing ovulation, which normally occurs in the middle of the menstrual cycle and involves the release of an egg from an ovary.

However, according to Clearblue, the morning after pill “won’t terminate a fertilised egg or prevent it from implanting” and won’t prevent you from getting pregnant if you’ve already ovulated.

Holly used an emergency contraception the day after the one-night encounter, but it was ineffective because she was unaware that she had already ovulated.

“I’ve taken the morning after pill for other reasons in the past and it’s never failed me before, so I thought it would be absolutely fine,” she stated.

“I’ve since found out however that it doesn’t work if you’ve already ovulated, which they didn’t tell me when I went to get it. My period was actually due the day after the wedding, so I had definitely already ovulated and I think that’s why it didn’t work.”

The mother claims she “wouldn’t have it any other way” now that her identical twins are here, even though she “wasn’t planning to get pregnant.”

“Regardless of if it was from a one night stand or from a relationship – I’ve got the girls and I wouldn’t have them if it didn’t happen,” Holly stated. “I remember seeing them for the first time and feeling such an amount of love that I’d never felt before in my entire life.

“I can’t imagine my life without them now. We’re going to be the three musketeers for the rest of our lives.

“I have said to the dad that the door will always be open for him, if he ever wants it. He hasn’t used it yet, but if the girls ever want to reach out there will be ways of doing that.”

“If that’s what they want then as long as they’re happy, I’m happy,” she stated.
