Wolfenstein Series In The Works At Amazon MGM Studios After Success Of Fallout

Amazon MGM Studios will adapt another video game following the success of the first season of the Fallout series.

Variety reported on Friday that Amazon will start working on adapting the video game Wolfenstein. Other than the tagline, “The story of killing N**is is evergreen,” not much is known about the show’s plot.

Patrick Somerville, who produced Maniac for Netflix and Station Eleven for HBO Max, will serve as the series’ showrunner. The production will also feature Jerk Gustafsson, an executive producer of MachineGames, the company that creates the Wolfenstein video games.

One of the earliest video game series is Wolfenstein. Castle Wolfenstein, a stealth game that was revolutionary at the time, launched the series in 1981. The majority of people are familiar with Wolfenstein 3D, the series’ relaunch created by id Software, the business that eventually purchased the franchise’s rights.

A new Wolfenstein game was developed by MachineGames and put into production after publisher Bethesda purchased id Software in 2010. That game, Wolfenstein: The New Order, shifted the franchise’s setting from World War II to an alternate timeline where the Nazis won the war. William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, the same American soldier from the first Wolfenstein 3D, starred in this reboot, except this time, he ends up in a coma rather of murdering Hler. In 1960, Blazkowicz reawakens and starts battling to defeat the Nis once more.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, Wolfenstein II: The revised Colossus, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot are among the titles that were released in this revised Wolfenstein timeline.

Who will appear in the upcoming Wolfenstein series and when it will debut remain unknown. An inquiry for more information regarding the show was not immediately answered by Amazon MGM Studios.
