Need some more Chinese computer animation in your life? Well, this new movie is about to grant you that wish. Wish Dragon is the next animated fantasy comedy film coming out of China. It was directed by Chris Appelhans, and the list of production companies involved in it is extensive.
Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Animation, Beijing Sparkle Roll Media Corporation, Tencent Pictures, Base FX, Flagship Entertainment Group, Boss Collaboration, and Cultural Investment Holdings were all involved in the production of this film.
According to the Base Animation studio, the goal of the film is to "make world-class animation in China for China… and the world".
Director Chris Appelhans "wanted the film made in China, with a strong Mainland China creative team, an international cast of talent, and a focus on the hopes and dreams of contemporary China."

Wish Dragon is scheduled to release on Netflix on June 11, 2021.
It was originally set to be released on July 26, 2019, but due to issues unrelated to COVID (obviously), the film was delayed to 2020. It was then delayed again to 2021.
The film was released in China on January 15, 2021.
The film stars Jimmy Wong as the voice of the main lead, Din, and John Cho voices Long the dragon.
Other members of the cast include Constance Wu, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Jimmy O. Yang, Aaron Yoo, Will Yun Lee, and Ronny Chieng.
Jackie Chan pitched in as producer and even voiced Cho's role in the Mandarin version.
The film follows working-class college student Din and a cynical dragon capable of granting wishes. They both go off on an adventure through modern-day Shanghai in pursuit of Din’s long-lost childhood friend, Lina. With the ability to wish for anything, they must decide what really matters.
