Wild District (Distrito Salvaje) ended season 2 with a hint that there's more story left to be explored. Here's the latest update on Netflix's Colombian series.
Wild District (Distrito Salvaje) is the first Colombian original series on Netflix.
The action-drama series directed by Cristian Conti follows the story of a guerrilla fighter turned government spy as he tries to reconnect with his family amidst the violent life he's led.
The series has launched a total of 20 episodes across two seasons, with season 2 ending in a cliffhanger.
Are more episodes coming soon? Here's what we know so far.
Unfortunately, Netflix has not renewed Wild District for season 3 yet as of this writing.
The show premiered on the streaming platform on October 19, 2018, followed by season 2 on November 8, 2019. Both seasons launched with 10 episodes, and as far as narrative is concerned, we were expecting that the creators of the show were planning for at least one more season to tie the loose ends.
Last year, there were speculations that season 3 will drop around the same time this year (November 2020). Unfortunately, we're now entering the second week of October, and there is still no recent news regarding the show's renewal status.
Wild District follows Jhon Jeiver, a highly-skilled fighter who used to serve the rebel army against the Colombian government.
Abducted at a young age, JJ was subjected to extreme training that turned him into a hardened and deadly mercenary.
After surrendering to the army in hopes of reconnecting with his family, JJ accepted a deal to work as a spy for the government. He was allowed to return to his old crew to secretly gather intelligence data and prevent planned attacks by the rebels. He moved to Bogotá after the signing of the Peace Treaty.
In season 2, we saw JJ working as a hitman while trying hard to live a new normal life, away from the woods. But JJ's fate has forever intertwined with danger and violence. After a spectacle with Daniela's presidential campaign, season 2 ended in a cliffhanger with JJ witnessing a terrible murder.
If the show gets renewed for season 3, we're expecting the new episodes to pick up on JJ's new predicament.
The show is yet to get renewed, but we're likely to expect the following cast members to reprise their roles.
Juan Pablo Raba will likely return for the lead role Jhon Jeiver “JJ” aka Jhon Gomez. Joining him are Nicolás Quiroga Pineda as Mario Gómez, Cristina Umaña as Daniela León, Camila Sodi as Gissele Duque, Carolina Acevedo as Alex Mallarino, Christian Tappan as Apache, Juan Fernando Sánchez as Caldera, Juan Sebastián Calero as Raúl/Aníbal, Julio Pachón as Coronel Rama, Alina Lozano as Francisca, Paula Castaño as Verónica, Camila Jurado as Juliana, Camilo Jiménez Varón as Senator Federico Ibargüen, Andrés Toro as Ramón, Jennifer Hyde as Julie, and Nina Caicedo as Misury.
Netflix often drops trailers a month, leading to a show's release. With the renewal status still unknown, we're still unable to give an expected date for the trailer.
Here's the season 2 trailer for the meantime.
