Good news for all the White Chick fans as Terry Crews recently confirmed, much to the fans delight, that a sequel is officially on the cards.
Brace yourselves for this news as Terry Crews has officially confirmed that a sequel to 'White Chicks' is happening. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star confirmed on Sunday on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” that he and his co-star/screenwriter Shawn Wayans are already talking about a second installment to the cult comedy. Crews said, "You know what, I actually got with Shawn, and he was like man we doing it, we getting it going."
It has been 15 years since the original movie was released and it sheds light on the story of two disgraced FBI agents who go undercover as ‘white chicks’ in a bid to protect a hotel heiress from a kidnapping plot. There has been a lot of rumors about a sequel for a while now. Terry also appeared on 'The Talk' where he was asked what song he would sing for the sequel. After thinking for quite a while, he said, "I think the modern day of [A Thousand Miles’] would be Carly Rae Jepsen ‘Call Me Maybe’."
He added, "I don’t know the lyrics but I would definitely do the whitest white girl song you would ever see. But white girls are singing gangster right now, you know what I mean? So, it might be a little different, it might have a little rap thing in there. However we would do it, it’d be great."
Crews had previously hinted a sequel while talking to Us Weekly, he said, "I would love one. I’m staying in shape for White Chicks 2. I will never get out of shape – you know that, right? I will be 75 and say, ‘Here we go, I’m ready to go!’ I will never, ever get out of shape because that movie’s going to happen one day." In another interview with News.au, he said, "I’ve stayed in shape just for that movie. I’ve been working out for 15 years so we could do White Chicks 2, y’all.”
In March this year, he spoke about the possibility of a sequel happening, saying, "I don’t know, but there have been some rumblings happening, and a lot of people want us to do it, so I and my brothers have been talking. So if things go right, we hope to do a White Chicks 2.” 'White Chicks' was released in 2004 and made $98 million at the box office. But, even though it was a hit among the fans, the movie did not earn much favor from the movie critics and holds only a 15 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
