The new year has started off with a major throwback that emo kids from the 2000s will greatly appreciate. The "When We Were Young" music festival dropped its stellar line-up and as the name suggests is taking a whole generation of music listeners back in time.

The list of artists was so vast and high profile that people had a hard time believing it was real. But it is very real and is being headlined by My Chemical Romance and Paramore. The two bands had been on hiatus, with My Chemical Romance breaking up in 2013 and reuniting in 2019. They were all set to start a North American tour in 2020 which had to be rescheduled due to the pandemic. They will be finally going on tour this year. For Paramore, on the other hand, this will be their first show since 2018. News of the music festival is an exciting one especially for the fans who have waited a long time.

Additionally, the other big names in the pop-punk and emo genre of music set to perform at the festival include Bright Eyes, Avril Lavigne, 3OH!3, Bring Me The Horizon, Boys Like Girls, Jimmy Eat World, the All-American Rejects, Dashboard Confessional, We the Kings, Alkaline Trio, Manchester Orchestra, Dance Gavin Dance, Car Seat Headrest, La Dispute, the Wonder Years, along with dozens of other acts. The festival is set to take place on October 22 this year.

Tickets for the festival will be up for pre-sale starting Friday, January 21, 2022. You can get the tickets on the When We Were Young website. The general admission tickets start at $225 with the VIP tickets starting at $499. While some fans have been expressing excitement for the festival others are treading with more caution. Some fans are of the opinion that the line-up is packed because the organizers of the event are expecting some acts to drop out before the festival. There is also a zero refund policy for tickets, noted Distractify.

What's more, the organizers of the When We Were Young festival are Live Nation Entertainment, the same organization behind the disastrous Astroworld music festival. This is another cause of concern for fans who have noted that all the acts will be performing on a single day and the logistics are probably haywire much like Travis Scott's concert was. The organizers along with their subsidiary company, Ticketmaster, are also facing a lawsuit currently for violating antitrust laws by monopolizing ticket sales, reported The Hollywood Reporter. This is in addition to the aftermath of Astroworld. People are saying that the company is bleeding money which is why the tickets are so overpriced.

Even though many fans are apprehensive about how the music festival will turn out, other "elder emos" are looking forward to attending.
