What To Watch Today: July 17th, 2021

Here are five titles that you absolutely must watch today!

Happy Saturday folks! Are you currently in the process of scrolling through the feeds of your various streaming subscriptions, looking for a good time? Well, it's easy to become overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content there is, so we at Trinikid are going to try to make your life easier by giving you a rundown of what to watch today.....at least, what you should be watching today. Let's get started. Oh, before we begin, if you are interested in seeing yesterday's version of this post, click here. It included Fear Street Part Three: 1666, Love Island Season 7, among others. Now, let's get into today's lineup.

Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)

The first title you should absolutely watch today is the new Space Jam film starring Lebron James.

This film follows Lebron James and his young son Dom as they get trapped in a digital space by a rogue A.I. In order to escape, Lebron must lead a team, consisting of Bugs Bunny and the rest of his looney friends, to victory in a game of Basketball against the A.I.'s digitized champions.

Critics and audiences both can't agree on the quality of the film. The critics gave Space Jam: A New Legacy a LOONEY 31% on Rotten Tomatoes. The consensus read:

Despite LeBron James' best efforts to make a winning team out of the Tune Squad, Space Jam: A New Legacy trades the zany, meta humor of its predecessor for a shameless, tired exercise in IP-driven branding.

However, it seems like the audiences didn't agree, giving the film a whopping 83%. This is a huge divide and it'll be up to you to decide who you're going to side with? The Tune squad or the goon squad?

Malcolm D. Lee directed the film and it stars LeBron James, Don Cheadle, Khris Davis, Sonequa Martin-Green, Cedric Joe, Jeff Bergman, Eric Bauza, and Zendaya.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is available in theaters and on HBO Max

The White Lotus (Season 1)

The next title you must watch today, if you haven't already, is the first season of The White Lotus. This HBO limited series follows the lives of employees and VIPs during one tense week at a luxury resort. We see their struggles but for us as the viewers, there is a shadow that lurks as it is revealed that by the end of the week, someone will be dead. The star-studded cast did an amazing job at bringing this to life.

Critics gave the series an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes while the audience gave it 73%.

Mike White directed the satire comedy and it stars an ensemble of:

Murray Bartlett
Connie Britton
Jennifer Coolidge
Alexandra Daddario
Fred Hechinger
Jake Lacy
Brittany O'Grady
Natasha Rothwell
Sydney Sweeney
Steve Zahn

You can watch The White Lotus on HBO Max and HBO Now.

Rick And Morty (Season 5)

The fifth season of the uber-comedy Rick and Morty premiered on June 20th, 2021. It has been crushing it ever since, with back-to-back episodes of pure hilarity.

However, this is another case where the critics and the audiences don't agree. The critics gave the new season a solid 100% on the Tomatometer while the audiences gave it a weak 58%.

You can watch the fifth season of Rick and Morty on Hulu, HBO Max, and Adult Swim.

Darkest Hour (2017)

The 2017 war-drama Darkest Hour is now trending on HBO Max. Gary Oldman's stunning performance as Winston Churchill was more than enough to keep this flick alive years later.

Both critics and audiences can agree that this was a mighty good time. Critics gave it an 84% on the Tomatometer, while the audience score wasn't too far off with 82%.

The film follows the newly-appointed British Prime Minister as he must decide whether to negotiate with Hitler or keep the fight going.

Joe Wright directed the film and it stars Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James, Ben Mendelsohn, Stephen Dillane, and Ronald Pickup.

Never Have I Ever (Season 2)

The last title on our list is the second season of the Netflix teen-comedy Never Have I Ever. Devi is back for a second round, this time she is split between two boyfriends. This new season has managed to captivate critics and audiences alike. The critics gave the series a whopping 95% while the audiences were a bit more reserved in their praises with 81%.

You can see Never Have I Ever Season 2 on Netflix.
