Ryan Gosling as Ken has caused quite the stir among social media users.

Greta Gerwig's star-studded live-action adaptation of Mattel's Barbie has already been making waves. Margot Robbie is set to play the malibu princess in the film. And Gosling will be playing her male counterpart, Ken. The first picture of the 41-year-old actor dropped earlier this week on a bright pink set. He is sporting an unbuttoned jeans vest, flaunting his toned and tanned body, all set to play the role of Barbie's plastic boyfriend.

The picture received mixed reactions from fans who are more intrigued by what's in store for the Barbie movie. Here's what a few people had to say about the teaser on social media:

Eva Mendes, Gosling's partner, took to Instagram to share the Ken picture as well. "So. F. Funny. So. F. Good. So F excited for you to see this…#Thatsmyken," she wrote in the caption.

This is just the beginning of what is set to be an exciting journey till the movie hits theatres. In addition to Robbie and Gosling, Emmy-winning actors America Ferrera (Ugly Betty, Superstore) and Kate McKinnon of Saturday Night Live, are also joining the cast along with Marvel superhero Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). Emma Mackey who many have noted bears a striking resemblance to Robbie is also a part of the Barbie cast. Will Farell is also joining the cast as the CEO of a toy company.

Other actors joining the roster include Hari Nef (And Just Like That), Alexandra Shipp (Tick, Tick … Boom!), Ariana Greenblatt (Stuck In Between), Issa Rae (Insecure), Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World), Kingsley Ben-Adir (The OA), Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education), Rhea Perlman (Matlida), Sharon Rooney (Dumbo), Scott Evans (Almost Love), Ana Cruz Kayne (Anya), Ritu Arya (The Umbrella Academy), and Jamie Demetriou (Fleabag).

Liu and Gatwa are set to play other versions of Ken while Rae and Nef will be other versions of Barbie. The other roles are yet to be revealed. The shoot for the film started in March but the plot details are under tight wraps. But so far, we know that the film will tell the story of "a doll living in Barbieland is expelled for not being perfect enough, which sets off on an adventure in the real world." The film is set to be released on July 21, 2023. Gerwig co-wrote the film with her partner Noah Baumbach.

Fans are now eagerly waiting to see how teaser images of the other actors will turn out. Liu had earlier described Barbie as “wild” and “incredibly unique,” and added, "I wish I could just show you what we do day-to-day because it’s crazy." He went on to say, "When you’re doing a scene and it’s working, you hear, ‘HAHAHAHA!’ It’s the best feeling in the world." Liu said he’s been in dance rehearsals for the film but has clarified that it is not a musical.
