The story of an unlikely romance between a nurse practitioner who is trying to run from her past and a former U.S. Marine suffering from PTSD was a surprising sleeper hit among the fans on Netflix when it first aired in December 2019. As the popularity of the romantic drama soared, fans speculated about a possible renewal of the show and Netflix did not disappoint in this case. After a successful three-season run, Virgin River was renewed for a fourth and fifth season in September 2021, and now the impatient viewers' question is when Virgin River Season 5 will see daylight. There is no release date confirmed for the fifth season of Virgin River, except we know that a fifth season is definitely happening as the production wrapped up on November 21, 2022. Since the show was successful on the network for the first three seasons, Netflix greenlit two more seasons of Virgin River, which is a rare occurrence because there are times when some of the most popular shows get canceled unexpectedly. If we have to rely on the speculations, then the fifth season of the show will arrive in 2023 for sure.
The story follows Melinda Monroe moving to a remote town called Virgin River in Northern California to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner with hopes of starting her life afresh. However, the quaint little town isn’t doing much to help her bury a painful past behind, and she realizes that living in a secluded location isn’t as easy as she expected it to be. In the upcoming season, we are getting twelve episodes, and since the fourth season ended on a cliffhanger, we can expect to see more of the complications between Charmaine, Jack, and Mel and discover who is the father of the twins. Mayor Hope will also get aided by Lizzie and recover to resume her duties as mayor of Virgin River. We can also expect to see the court proceeding revolving around Brie and her sexual assault as she drags her former boyfriend and rapist to trial.
The original cast member will make a return without a question which consists of protagonists Mel Monroe, played by Alexandra Breckenridge, and Jack Sheridan, played by Martin Henderson. Joining the cast list are some new faces, such as Susan Hogan, Elise Gatien, Kandyse McClure, and Paolo Maiolo, in unspecified roles. The upcoming season is most likely to be directed by Monika Mitchell and Andy Mikita, with Felipe Rodriguez making his directorial debut. The series is available for streaming on Netflix.
