Marvel fans have been eagerly anticipating the third installment of the Venom series, but it seems that the production has hit a roadblock. Sony has officially announced that Venom 3 will have its exclusive premiere in theaters on July 12, 2024. Given the tremendous success of the previous two films at the box office, it was almost expected that this installment would follow suit with a theatrical release. The first movie raked in an astonishing $850 million worldwide, ranking it among the top 25 highest-grossing comic book movies of all time. Meanwhile, Venom: Let There Be Carnage also performed impressively during its theatrical run, earning over $500 million on a $100 million budget.
Initially scheduled for October 2024, the decision to move up the release date indicates Sony's confidence in delivering the film despite challenges posed by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have impacted the production.
Once the theatrical run concludes, there's a strong possibility that Venom 3 may become available for streaming. Sony has a history of partnering with platforms like Netflix to release their high-profile movies on streaming services. The film's production officially commenced in June 2023, despite the ongoing WGA writers' strike.
