Rob Lowe teamed up with his son John Owen Lowe for the brand new Netflix Comedy Unstable. The father-son duo also created the show alongside Victor Fresco. The show's plot reads:
An introverted man must save his eccentric father, a biotech entrepreneur, and his company from disaster.
The show did not crush it when it first premiered but it's slowly becoming a favorite among Netflix subscribers. Will this be enough to secure the show a second season? Let's explore.
Netflix has yet to renew Unstable for season 2. The show did make it into the top 10 lists of 45 countries worldwide. However, Unstable was only able to garner 11,360,000 million viewing hours in its first five days. This may seem like a big number but it actually isn't when compared to other shows on Netflix. With these viewing statistics it's highly likely that the show will not get a renewal. Let's consider that Neil Patrick Harris's Uncoupled got canceled after amassing 26.52 million hours in two weeks.
Things aren't looking very good for Unstable right now.
Unstable wouldn't be Unstable without the father-son duo of Rob Lowe and John Owen Lowe. We definitely expect these two to return if the show gets renewed. We can also expect Sian Clifford to return in a supporting role.
Unstable was announced in April 2022 and was released a year later in March 2023. With this we can expect that the show takes about a year to produce. So if we get a renewal within the next few months then we can expect a 2024 release.
