"I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer."
Umbrella Academy Star Elliot Page Comes Out As Transgender and received tremendous support from fans and other stars.
The 33-year old actor took to Twitter to share a heartfelt open-letter regarding her gender identity and expression.
"Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they, and my name is Elliot," the actor wrote.
Page expressed his gratitude to the people who supported her on the journey and took the opportunity to shed light on the issues that affect the trans community.
“The statistics are staggering. The discrimination towards trans people is rife, insidious, and cruel, resulting in horrific consequences. In 2020 alone, it has been reported that at least forty transgender people have been murdered, the majority of which were Black and Latinx trans women,” Elliot added in the letter.
Nevertheless, Elliot chooses to embrace who he is.
"I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer," Elliot wrote.
Numerous organizations, fans, and co-stars expressed their support following Elliot's announcement.
Replying to Elliot's tweet, Netflix said: "So proud of our superhero! WE LOVE YOU ELLIOT! Can't wait to see you return in season 3."

Elliot's journey to discovery and coming to terms with his identity took time.
Born Ellen Grace Philpotts-Page, Elliot first came out as a gay woman back in February 2014 during a Human Rights Campaign.
Elliot was first known for his role in the film and television series Pit Pony that aired from 1997–2000.
His cinematic breakthrough came through Jason Reitman's film Juno (2007), where he played the titular role.
In recent years, Elliot appeared in Netflix's The Umbrella Academy, where he portrays a female character, Vanya Hargreeves, the most powerful of the Hargreeves siblings.
In November 2020, the superhero series was renewed for a third season.
Elliot is confirmed to return for the third season of Umbrella Academy.
However, it's still unknown how his announcement will affect the character he plays in the series.
Until further plot details are announced, we will have to wait for answers.
