As mentioned earlier, it is a story about two best friends with their own struggles, insecurities, problems, and lessons of life. Tuca is the one who carries fake confidence in front of the world to hide her insecurities and Bertie, is a woman who has it all but cannot decide what she actually wants in her life and puts endless efforts for the sake of pleasing people. The lives led by these two protagonists are relatable in many ways and that is the reason this show has become everyone's favorite. The duo continues to try to improve themselves and understand the complexity of adulthood.

As per Hanawalt’s words on the National Public Radio, “I just hope that the people who watch it connect with it, and that it makes them feel better about who they are, so they don’t have to feel apologetic for being a certain way or not being the status quo or whatever.” The second season will explore more complex and absurd issues of life, and maybe they will be a bit mature when it comes to handling life and its problems.

Creator Lisa Hanawalt explained, "Millennials, in particular, are facing a lot of economic problems because we’re not getting paid more with inflation, and we’re struggling to try to buy houses and support families and healthcare is a real issue. The vitriol against millennials is really unfounded. They’re like, oh, lazy millennials. Always living with their parents and not getting jobs. It’s a difficult decade because you feel like you should have everything figured out by now and you should leave behind all the craziness of your 20s, but at the same time, you still feel like a child."
