There is still no release date for the animated ‘Tomb Raider' series as of this writing. However, it is expected that it will release in 2023. The streaming giant announced the new 'Tomb Raider' series in January 2021. It is a collaboration between Netflix, Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix, and Legendary Television. Tasha has already wrapped up the writing process. In late May 2021, it was confirmed that the writer clan is done with the script, meaning that the animators and voice artists will now take over the production status. The writers frequently shared pictures of their Zoom meetings on Twitter to keep the fans updated as well.

The animated series will pick up after the happenings of the 'Tomb Raider' video-game reboot trilogy, in which Lara had to turn away a global apocalypse triggered by her removing an ancient artifact from an abandoned temple.
Here's the official logline from Netflix:
"Lara Croft, one of the video game world’s most iconic adventurers, makes her anime debut in an all-new series. Picking up after the events of the highly successful Tomb Raider video-game reboot trilogy, the animated series will chart the globetrotting heroine’s latest, greatest adventure. Twenty-five years after her first game appeared, Lara continues to explore new territory."
As updated above, the script and writing are done. However, the series is still in production as the voice artists and animators need to bring the script to life. Tasha Huo shared the great news along with a wacky photo of the team holding an ax.
