Spider-Man Far From Home will be Tom Holland's second solo film but it definitely isn't his last as he says he's down for another 20!
Ever since his short cameo in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland didn’t just wear the suit, he became the very embodiment of the globally renowned Web Crawler, so much so that even the late, great Stan Lee went on to praise Holland in the following tweet he made back in May 20th, 2018:
“I think @TomHolland1996 is a great Spider-Man. He is the exact height and age I envisioned when I first wrote Spider-Man. Spidey was never supposed to be too large. How is my friend Tom doing?”
This was after the success that Holland’s portrayal of Spidey in Spider-Man: Homecoming was well-received all around the globe. With Holland’s stature and the right exhibition of youthful energy, it’s no wonder his take on Spider-Man is by far the best one for the live-action universe. And the fact that this much fame and recognition for his character has gotten so much buzz in under three years at such a young age is in itself a monumental accomplishment.
It’s amazing how he immediately transitioned as a local superhero to an undisputed legend in the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. And now he’s ready to shoot more webs as he flings around Europe in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which also introduces us to one of the Web Crawler’s most recurring foes in Mysterio. With the release of this film, Holland would be donning the legendary red and blue suit for the fifth time in under three years. If that’s not a huge feature on the cap, we don’t know what is.
Many media outlets had visited Holland on the set for Spider-Man: Far From Home last year to get word on how many more times he plans to play Spidey for the foreseeable future. It’s a big deal for the young actor as it has gotten him so much notoriety over the years and the fans don’t want to see him give up on the jumpsuit so soon, not while he’s basically red hot as the character right now. Fortunately, it seems as though the fans can rest easy as Holland can confidently web-crawl some more for 20 more Spider-Man movies, while also adding that the sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home has been a better experience for his character than the first one.
He is quoted to say:
It feels pretty good. It's an amazing experience as an actor and such a privileged experience as an actor to get to play characters that you love so much. Time and time again. Um, I definitely have the mindset of, if you want to make 20 of these movies, then I'm down because it's really fun. It's, it's been a real privilege and so much fun. Maybe even more fun this time around than the last one. It's been great.
This is pretty great news for Spidey fans all over the globe, but in order to fulfill this promise, Holland will need to extend his contract as he was previously contracted for 6 films, including 3 additional appearances and 3 solo movies.
