Get to know Tom Ellis behind the camera!
'Lucifer' season 5 Part B is finally here, and you've probably binge-watch the eight episodes already. We've waited for so long just to see our stylish and tempting devil back on screen, and eight episodes seem to be not enough.
'Lucifer' is undeniably one of the massively successful shows on the platform. Quite frankly, much of its victory should be credited to Tom Ellis' incredible performance for the titular role.
Tom's simply oozing with charisma, and he plays Lucifer so well that it is sometimes impossible to separate him from the character.
Can't get enough of Tom Ellis? Well, thank the devil, because today is your lucky day! Here are 10 facts you probably didn't know about Tom Ellis.
Yes! Tom has a twin in real life! And no, it isn't a twin brother like Michael in the 'Lucifer' series. Tom has a twin sister instead, named Lucy! Now that is some uncanny coincidence don't you think?
Tom may be playing the role of the devil, but he hails from a religious family. Both his sister and his father are Baptist pastors.
Don't worry because his father has no problem with him playing Lucifer in the highly-acclaimed Netflix show. He tells Square Mile:
“My dad was cool with it. I don’t think my dad watches the show, I was going to say ‘religiously’…”
He explained, “I don’t think my dad is an avid viewer of my show. But that’s not because it’s about the Devil; it’s just not his cup of tea. He’d rather watch reruns of Inspector Morse.”
Aside from his impressive acting performance, fans loved Tom's musical scenes in 'Lucifer'. One of the most anticipated parts of 'Lucifer' season 5 part 2 is the musical episode. The musical episode begins with Tom performing “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak. To be clear, he is not playing the piano, but yes, that is his real singing voice!
It's hard not to fall in love with Tom, both on and off the camera. He is very romantic in real life, and his ex-wife and EastEnders co-star Tamzin Outhwaite is one of the few lucky people to experience this. Tom proposed to Tamzin just 6 months after they met. The grand gesture included a fireworks show.
James McAvoy was the cupid behind Tom and Tamzin's relationship. James was the one who introduced the two, and he served as the best man during their wedding.
Tom and Tamzin's love story might seem like a fairytale with the fireworks proposal and a star-studded wedding. However, the truth is far away from that.
Their marriage didn't last. Tamzin filed a divorce in 2013 after Tom reportedly cheated on her and confessed to a one-night stand.
After the heartbreaking divorce from his first wife, Tom found a second chance at love. He married screenwriter Meaghan Oppenheimer in 2019.
Tom is blessed with three beautiful daughters. From his marriage with Tamzin, Tom has two daughters named Florence Elsie and Marnie Mae. She also has a teenage daughter named Nora from a previous relationship.
Tom struggled when he started to portray Lucifer's twin Michael in the fifth season of the hit Netflix series.
"I played Lucifer for such a long time, it's just like, flicking a switch now, almost." the actor said during a live Q&A at StageIt.com (via CBR) adding, "And Michael wasn't. So I really had to think about that. And so that was the challenge.
"I had to sort of get through the initial kind of feelings of 'God, I feel like a massive fraud' and really trust in the choices that I'd made and just go for it. So yeah, it was a bit of a challenge, but ultimately, one that I relished." He did note, however, that it's a challenge he doesn't plan to "rush too quickly to do again."
Tom is born on November 17, 1978, in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. He is 6 feet 3 inches tall (191 cm). His current net worth is approx $5 million.
