Tobey Maguire May Be "Coming" Back As Spider-Man

Rumors surfaced that Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi will reunite in a Spider-Man farewell film.

Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man

Rumors are claiming that Tobey Maguire will be back as Spider-Man together with director Sam Raimi.

Lords of the Long Box, a youtube channel that shares scoops, discussed the rumor in recent video upload.

According to the channel, Tobey Maguire will once again play the superhero role with Sony's live-action Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.

The live-action film is said to be Tobey Maguire's "Endgame farewell", relating it to Robert Downey Jr.'s goodbye in The Avengers: Endgame.

This is "a chance for director Sam Raimi to say good-bye to the beloved version of his character," the channel added.

This film will reportedly lead to the introduction of the live-action version of the Miles Morales Spider-Man.

Although it was mentioned that the film is going with Sony, the rumors seem to be insinuating that Marvel will be involved.

The rumors aren't too far-fetched.

In 2018, Sony already revealed plans of casting Tobey Maguire as an older Peter Parker just after Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse film premiered.

The Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse released on December 12, 2018 with Shameik Moore as Miles Morales / Spider-Man.

It was a huge success with $375 million grossed worldwide and named the best-animated film of 2018 by the New York Film Critics Circle. Its sequel is set to release on Oct. 7, 2022.

"There was. There were many thoughts about where we could put Tobey Maguire and others. I think after this film, those thoughts might have a little more traction. But before this movie, and introducing the idea of the “Spider-Verse” to the audience, I think everybody was afraid that it would just really confuse people. But wow, it would have been fun." Rodney Rothman said via Screen Crush.

Tobey Maguire is undebatably an unforgettable face behind the Spider-Man mask.

Maguire and Raimi worked together on three Spider-Man films in the early 2000s which grossed over $2.5 billion.

Their first Spider-Man film released in 2003 where Maguire was nominated Best Male Performance in the MTV Movie Awards and Best Actor in the 29th Saturn Awards.

His impressive performance continued on Spider-Man 2 where he finally won Best Actor in the 31st Saturn Awards.

Maguire and Raimi's film series ended with Spider-Man 3 in 2007 with Maguire nominated Best Performance by a Male in 1st National Movie Award.

Maguire and Raimi's working chemistry is a pure gem, and with their huge contribution in bringing the beloved web-shooting superhero in our hearts, a hearty farewell just seems appropriate.
