Tidelands Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

We all know the power and mystery that lie underneath the infinite sea. There is something poetically daunting about the vastness of a sea, and humans most likely get intrigued by it. The Netflix Original ‘Tidelands’ serves such inquisitiveness well, where fans get to see a dark and twisted fantasy throughout the series. The show features strong female leads with a riveting storyline. ‘Tidelands’ is Netflix’s original Australian series which makes it even more interesting. It is produced by Hoodlum Entertainment and created by Stephen Irwin and Leigh Mcgrath. The series is directed by Toa Fraser, Emma Freema, Catriona Mckenzie, and Daniel Nettheim. Each of the directors is responsible for making two episodes of the show. The first installment left fans buzzing about the show when it aired on December 14, 2018. It offers enchanting music that fans listen to on repeat, unapologetically. So, here is everything we know about the second season.

Is Tidelands Season 2 Happening?

Tidelands

Frankly, it’s dicey. Netflix has not made an official announcement as to whether or not the show will get renewed, but the fact that it’s been more than five years since it premiered for the first time, makes things uncertain. Usually, Netflix takes two-three months to announce any show’s renewal by monitoring the success, figures, and numbers in that period. The fact that the show received average reviews from critics makes the situation more unpredictable. However, on IMDb, Tidelands managed to get seven stars out of ten, and on the review site, Rotten Tomatoes an approval rate of 86 percent. But if the series manages to find an audience in Australia, then fans can hope for a second installment worldwide.

Executive Producer Nathan Mayfield told Now to Love.com that Netflix chose to produce Tidelands because “they’d been pitched a lot of stuff in Australia, but nothing that felt big. I think everything had felt true to an Australian audience, but [they] hadn’t really thought about what it looked like as a global show. He also said what works in Tideland’s favor is that Netflix gave the writers the choice to be “big, be bold and play in worlds that are rarely seen on Australian TV — in crime, thriller and supernatural.”

What Will Be The Storyline Of ‘Tidelands’ Season 2?

The show is about Orphelin Bay which has been invaded by Tidelanders who are a group of minacious people who are half-sirens and half-humans. Those who are aware of Greek Mythology would know that a siren is a threatening creature that was known for luring sailors to a shipwreck with the help of melodious music and mystic voices. The second installment will be connected with the first one for sure. In the first season itself, some of the key characters died leading to five deaths on average. In the first season, fans saw Cal McTeer ending up alone after her brother Augie, played by Aaron Jakubenko, and lover Dylan, played by Marco Pigossi, was brutally injured by Adriella, played by Elsa Pataky. It is also believed that Cal is part siren and part human and could be the new queen of the Tidelanders if she manages to defeat Adrielle. The first installment ends with Cal being recognized by the sirens as they come to the beach to collect her after defeating Adrielle.

Who All Will Return For ‘Tidelands’ Season 2?

It is hard to say anything with certainty as many characters died in the first season. However, let’s state the obvious and see who will return for the second installment. Charlotte Best will definitely return as she is to play Cal McTeer, the new Queen of the Tidelanders. Another character, Gilles played by Fin Little should also return and Bijou, played by Chloe De Los Santos was saved by Cal, so we can expect Bijou to return. Augie and Dylan survived their injuries, so they can return for a second season. We are not sure whether we will see Elsa Pataky return as Adrielle after she was defeated as Queen of the Tidelanders. Other cast members potentially returning are Richard Davies as Colton Raxter, Dalip Sondhi as Lamar Cloudier, Mattias Inwood as Corey Welch, and Jacek Koman as Gregori Stolin. They can be joined by Alex Dimitriades as Paul Murdor, Peter O’Brien as Bill Sentele, Madeleine Madden as Viola, Caroline Brazier as Rosa, and Hunter Page-Lochard as Jared.
