Say hi to the first female Thor ever.
Thor is coming back for a fourth solo movie with "more love and thunder," just like its official title.
Officially called 'Thor Love and Thunder,' the film is expected to feature more romance and bring back characters we used to love.
Here's everything you need to know.
Listed release date as of this writing: 6 May 2022
When the Marvel phase 4 plans were announced, 'Thor Love and Thunder' was scheduled for November 5, 2021 release.
However, Black Widow was delayed and pushed the release dates of the rest of the phase 4 films further.
'Thor Love and Thunder' was pushed back to February 18, 2022, then was moved forward to February 11, 2022, and then delayed again for May 6, 2022. Hopefully, this is going to be the final release date.
According to THR, Thor 4 will begin production around this month, January 2021.
Thor 4 will be taking inspiration from the Marvel Comics series The Mighty Thor by Jason Aaron and artist Russell Dauterman.
'Thor Love and Thunder' will introduce us to the first-time female Thor in the form of Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman.
Spilling some beans about her character's storyline in the upcoming film, Portman said:
"She's going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side,"
We all know that Thor films always bring in some serious superhero action scenes, but the fourth movie will also be 'very romantic,' director Waititi revealed in a video via BBC back in July last year.
"It is so insane, and it's also very romantic. I'm into romances now. I want to make romance. I want to make something that I've never done or never cared for. I would like to attack something like that,"
As for the exact storyline, Hemsworth revealed it's "one of the best scripts I've read in years", but refuses to give any spoilers.
On the other hand, the upcoming film is also confirmed to touch on Korg's culture with director Waititi voicing the character.
The fourth Thor film is bringing back a lot of exciting cast members.
Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor, and Natalie Portman is confirmed to return as Jane Foster.
This is Portman's first major MCU appearance since 2013 'Thor: The Dark World' and she is playing a huge role in the upcoming film.
She will become the Mighty Thor and will get to wield Mjolnir.
Another classic Marvel Cinematic Universe character is also coming back with Jaimie Alexander reprising her role as Lady Sif.
Meanwhile, Tessa Thompson will also reprise her role as Valkyrie. She will be the MCU's first openly LGBTQ+ superhero, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige confirmed.
Chris Pratt is also returning for his role as Star-Lord.
As for Tom Hiddleston's Loki, director Taika Waititi declines to comment about the character's potential return back in April, but we're hoping to see him again with Mark Ruffalo as Professor Hulk.
The Guardians of the Galaxy are announced to be involved in some way, but we're still waiting for further details on this.
On the anti-hero's side, Christian Bale will be playing Gorr the God Butcher.
Lastly, Taika Waititi will also be back to voice fan-favorite character, Korg.
Filming for 'Thor Love and Thunder' is yet to begin, and once production is up and running, we're expecting to see some footage and sneak peeks.
The trailer will most likely drop in 2022, in preparation for its May 2022 release.
We will keep you posted with the updates so make sure to follow us.
