Reese Witherspoon is absolutely brilliant in her role as Carrie Davis.
Reese Witherspoon is one of Hollywood's top actresses but despite her high status some of her movies still go unnoticed. One such film is The Good Lie, which stands as one of Witherspoon's most underrated films. It was filmed in Atlanta and South Africa and was directed by Philippe Falardeau.
The Good Lie stars Reese Witherspoon, Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany, Emmanuel Jal, Corey Stoll, and Sarah Baker. It follows Sudanese siblings Mamere, Paul, Jeremiah, Theo, Daniel, and Abital who are given refuge in Kansas City, Missouri. The siblings then meet Carrie Davis, an employment counselor, tasked with helping them find jobs. This encounter changes the lives of not only the Sudanese siblings but also Carrie.
The film managed to score an approval rating of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes from 86 reviews. The Critics Consensus on the site read: "The Good Lie sacrifices real-life nuance in order to turn its true story into a Hollywood production, but the results still add up to a compelling, well-acted, and deeply moving drama."
Ann Hornaday of the Washington Post said: "In a bait-and-switch worthy of its title, “The Good Lie” may lure in viewers eager to see a Reese Witherspoon movie, but they’ll fall in love with something else entirely."
And Peter Travers of the Rolling Stone said: "Yes, the film is based on a true story, Hollywood's usual shorthand for making things up with impunity. This time the fakery is not so dire."
Trinikid 100% recommends that you watch this film as it will take you on an emotional roller coaster. Reese Witherspoon is brilliant and she proves why she is such a highly sought after actress.
