These Are The Most Anticipated Movies That Are Set To Release In 2022 According To IMDb

There are plenty of movies for everyone to look forward to especially fans of superhero movies.

A new year means plenty of new releases to look forward to. IMDb compiles a list of movies that are much-anticipated the following year at the end of every year. This year too, they have compiled a list to get us pumped for the movie releases to come in 2022. 

"Get your Watchlists ready and start planning your new year," the movie database site stated, "because we're running down the new movies IMDb users can't wait to watch in 2022. Marvel and DC fans can rejoice as beloved superheroes from both universes will make their return to the big screen: Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder in Thor: Love and Thunder' and Robert Pattison as the latest Caped Crusader in The Batman. For action-packed adventure and a double dose of Tom Cruise, 2022 has you covered with Mission: Impossible 7 and Top Gun: Maverick." 

Here are the movies that made it to the list:

10. The Flash

This DC superhero will be played by Ezra Miller. The premise of the film will follow Barry Allen aka Flash go back in time to prevent the murder of his mother. This act proves to have unintended consequences for his timeline. The Flash is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 4.



 

9. Uncharted

This Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg film follows street-smart thief Nathan Drake (Holland) who is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Wahlberg) to recover a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago. What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting adventure to reach the prize before the ruthless Moncada (Antonio Banderas) believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. The film is set to release on February 18.



 

8. Mission: Impossible 7

The seventh installment of the spy thriller series starring Tom Cruise is set to finally release next year. It was previously set to be released on July 23, 2021, November 19, 2021, and May 27, 2022, the delay caused by the pandemic. It is now scheduled for release in the United States on September 30, by Paramount Pictures. Following this, it will be available for streaming on Paramount+ in November 2022.



 

7. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The MCU continues with the second installment of the 2016 Doctor Strange film. This standalone sequel starring Benedict Cumberbatch is also a sequel to Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision, and Spider-Man: No Way Home in addition to being a crossover/sequel to the first season of Loki. It will release on May 6.



 

6. Jurassic World: Dominion

This will be the third installment of the Jurassic World franchise. This movie is set four years after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, in which genetically engineered dinosaurs were auctioned to companies around the world while others were released on the US mainland. The story takes place around the world and depicts humans dealing with invasive dinosaur species. The movie will be theatrically released on June 10, meanwhile, a prologue of the movie was released. 



 

5. Killers of the Flower Moon

This crime drama is directed by Martin Scorsese, starring Leonardo Dicaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Brendan Fraser, and Jesse Plemons. It is currently in production and is based on the 2017 non-fiction book by the same name, written by David Grann. It will be released theatrically by Paramount Pictures and will be available to stream on Apple TV+.

4. Top Gun: Maverick

Another Tom Cruise movie is set to hit the screens. The sequel will pick up 30 years since the events of the first film and will see the reunion of Maverick, Lt Bradley Bradshaw, call sign 'Rooster,' and the son of Maverick's late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt Nick Bradshaw, aka 'Goose.' Maverick is now training a squad of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission. It is scheduled to release on May 27 and will be available for streaming on Paramount+ for 45 days after its theatrical release. 



 

3. Thor: Love and Thunder

This will be the direct sequel to Thor: Ragnarok (2017), starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, alongside Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum, and Vin Diesel. The film is directed by Taika Waititi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. It will release on July 8.



 

2. Scream

This will be the fifth installment of the slasher film series. It will be set 25 years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, California. Now, a new killer dons the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town's deadly past.



 

1. The Batman

This is a reboot of the Batman movie but it will not be an origin story. Instead, it is set two years after he starts fighting crime and corruption in Gotham. In this film, he will be joining forces with Catwoman to take on The Riddler, a serial killer known to attack the rich and influential. The film starring Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz is releasing on March 4.
