These 10 Actors Have Been A Part Of BOTH, DC And MCU!

Since the very beginning, a healthy rivalry has ensued between DC and Marvel, in the comics at least. But many actors have been a part of both the franchises.

Marvel and DC were producing films based on their classic characters long before the introduction of the MCU and the Worlds of DC. This means that there have been plenty of actors in the industry who have portrayed the characters that belong both in DCEU and MCU. More often than not, the characters they play in both the Universes are vastly different, and that allowed the actors to show a very wide range of acting. They've played heroes, villains, sidekicks, and supporting characters, and yet all of them became their own unique interpretations of the character.

As it goes with comic books, some people prefer the DC films over the Marvel films and vice versa. That almost seems to come down to the actors too, who seem to be doing a better job in one or the other. Some of these actors really shined in the Marvel movies and some, in DC. Here is a list of ten such actors who have both been part of the Marvel Universe and the DC Universe.

1. Tommy Lee Jones

One of the most respected actors in Hollywood, Tommy Lee Jones played the role of the superior officer in 'Captain America: The First Avenger'. In the DC universe, he played the role of Two-face in 'Batman Forever', where he was the villain and entirely over-the-top and ridiculous.

2. Michelle Pfeiffer

In the movie 'Antman and the Wasp', Michelle Pfeiffer got a second chance to appear in a comic book film when she played Janet Van Dyne. Her appearance as Catwoman in Tim Burton's 'Batman Returns' is also well-known and she had the fortune of being one of the few actors who became a part of both DC and MCU Universe.

3. Taika Waititi

Taika Waititi

The director who brought the much-needed laughter in MCU movie through 'Thor: Ragnarok', also played the part of the beloved Korg the alien who looks like a pile of rocks in the same movie. But he is actually a thing, he's a being. Korg was not only great comic relief in a film already full of hilarious moments, but he was crucial to the revolution on Sakaar. But prior to this, he also played a role in the DC movie 'Green Lantern', but sadly, his role was not much recognized, similar to the movie itself.

4. Zachary Levi

Twitter

Long before he became widely popular for playing the role in the DC movie 'Shazam', he was a part of the MCU franchise where he played the role of Fandral in 'Thor: The Dark World' and 'Thor: Ragnarok'. Even though he met his end in the latter film, it opened the door for him to become a member who has had the fortune to be a part of both MCU and DC. He went on to have a lead on his own standalone movie 'Shazam', which was too much fun to watch.

5. Michael Fassbender

Twitter

Extensively known as 'Magneto' in the 'X-Men' franchise where he brought his A-game to the role, and more than living up to the standard set by veteran actor Sir Ian McKellen. He became a part of the MCU franchise when he played the part in the movie 'Jonah Hex'. Even though the movie did not do well at all in the box office, he became one of the few actors to become a part of both MCU and DCEU.

6. Michael Keaton

Twitter

Michael Keaton is known widely for being the first, modern big-screen Batman. Even though he was not widely accepted by the fans as the caped crusader, he eventually proved that he was right for the part, playing both Bruce Wayne and Batman with a unique edge and personality that set the tone for every actor to follow. However, he also became a part of the MCU by playing the role of the villain in 'Spiderman: Homecoming'.

7. Idris Elba

Twitter

The most handsome man of 2018 has played in five MCU movies as Heimdall the Asgardian keeper of the Bifrost. In the DC Universe, he got an opportunity to shine in 'The Losers'. Elba loved playing the role of the backstabbing villain, Roque, who ultimately betrays his team and shows his sinister side. Also, Elba is going to be a part of James Gunn directed 'Suicide Squad'.

8. Halle Berry

Twitter

'Catwoman' has to be one of the worst movie adaptations from DC Comics ever and Halle Berry had the misfortune of playing that role. The funny part is, Halle Berry played the role of 'Catwoman', but she went on to win the Oscar for the best actress just two years later. In MCU, Berry was part of the 'X-Men' franchise, where she played the role of 'Storm'. As a weather-altering mutant, Berry possessed a sense of poise, power, and intelligence and really shined in her role.

9. Natalie Portman

Twitter

Natalie Portman played the role of Jane Foster in the 'Thor' franchise, but she did not get praise or much recognition for her role. Portman, who is a far more talented actor by any means was stuck in a very limited character for two movies. Her contract was not renewed for 'Thor: Ragnarok', but it doesn't seem like she had many complaints about it. In DC Universe, Portman played the role of Evey in 'V For Vendetta' where she got to stretch her acting muscles to a great extent. She had to deal with the trauma of being imprisoned and also standing up to a totalitarian government. The movie had much stronger material than 'Ragnarok' and she wasn't left playing the love interest of the main character.

10. Ryan Reynolds

Twitter

Ryan Reynolds, who might be the only actor in the list who actually gets to reference his past failings at portraying a superhero while playing a different one. Reynolds appeared in 2011's 'Green Lantern', a film that was received so poorly, it squashed the first round of plans for a DC extended cinematic universe. Lucky for Reynolds, he was able to move on and got a role that he was clearly born to play. He portrayed the role of the much-disliked character Deadpool in 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine', but even that all changed when he got his own standalone movie 'Deadpool' under Marvel Cinematic Universe and as we know, the rest is history.
