There Is A Glaring Mistake In The Empire Strikes Back That Remained Unnoticed For Nearly 40 Years

The Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back' is one of the best movies ever made but once you spot this mistake nearly hidden in plain sight, you can never unsee it.

The entire Star Wars franchise is deep-seated in mythology and it is also deep and dark. So, there is no way for even the biggest fan to know every little bit of information, as much as they hate to admit it. This saga has taken place a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, but there is one goof-up in the movies that have been hiding in the plain sight. If you take a close look at Luke’s lightsaber in the wampa cave on the icy planet of Hoth in the 1980s “Empire Strikes Back,” you’ll see 'New York' stamped at the very bottom.

This error was spotted by Pablo Hidalgo of the Lucasfilm Story Group, who works to ensure continuity throughout the “Star Wars” franchise. Given the fact that there are not too many people in the world who knows about Star Wars as much as Hidalgo, even then it was a very fine detail to have been spotted. Hidalgo went on to explain that Luke’s original lightsaber hilt was made from an old camera flash holder and it was produced in New York by Graflex. before it was released on Blu-Ray, the only way to have previously seen the inscription was crisply projected onto a massive theater screen. There’s certainly no way that quality of image could’ve held up on some VHS tape.

For reasons unknown, audience and fans of the movie will get to see Luke Skywalker's lightsaber once again n the upcoming Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It was shattered in a feud between Kylo Ren and Rey in The Last Jedi, and the decade's old weapon still looks new, just like it did in the trailer of 'Empire Strikes Back'. Is it because the return of the Emperor had to do something with it? Perhaps Luke fixes it with his Force ghost powers or maybe Rey just got a new one from the Bronx.

Well, now as you have been made aware and seen the error, it will be hard to unsee again. It’s even visible in the YouTube clip.
