The film is based on a 2018 novel of the same name by pseudonymous author A. J. Finn, with screenplay adaptation by  Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy S. Letts.

'The Woman in the Window' traveled a long way before finding its home in the streaming giant. The film plot promises mind-blowing twists and so much more.

Here's everything you need to know about 'The Woman in the Window.'

The Woman In The Window

What Is The Plot Of 'The Woman in the Window'?

Amy Adams stars as Dr. Anna Fox, a psychologist suffering from agoraphobia. She befriends Jane Russell (played by Julianne Moore), who lives across the street from her New York City brownstone condo. Things started going south after Jane disappears. Anna saw Russell getting stabbed and immediately called 911 for help.

However, in a crazy twist of events, Jane's husband said that Jane is alive and that she and Ana have never even met. She introduced Ana to a completely different person (Jennifer Jason Leigh), who he claims is Jane.

The detectives convinced Ana that she might only be hallucinating, but Anna refuses to believe them. Believing that foul play is involved, Anna went on to investigate and find clues on her own, endangering her life along the way.

Did she really meet Jane? Did the crime she witnessed really happened? We will get our answers as the movie is about to drop on Netflix very soon.

When Will 'The Woman in the Window' Release?

The film is coming to Netflix on 14 May 2021. 'The Woman in the Window' is supposed to have a theatrical release via 20th Century Fox on October 4, 2019. However, it was delayed to May 15, 2020, due to re-editing after test screenings.

"There were some plot points that people found a bit confusing — I would say possibly too opaque maybe,” Wright explained to Entertainment Weekly. “So we had to go back and clarify certain points, but I think also we tried to make sure we didn’t oversimplify anything and make things too clear. There’s an enjoyment in not knowing what’s going on, but at the same time, you have to give the audience something to hold on to — you have to lead them through the labyrinth of mystery and fear.”

The theatrical release was then canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and in August 2020, the film was sold to Netflix.
