Filming for The Witcher season four is already complete, and the Netflix series is getting ready for its small-screen comeback. Since we’re going to meet a brand-new Geralt of Rivia, there’s a lot of excitement this time around as well.

When Will The Witcher Season 4 Be Released?
Season 4 of The Witcher will premiere on Netflix in 2025, the streaming service has confirmed. However, the streaming service has not yet confirmed the show’s specific date.
The show’s filming is finished. In addition to Henry Cavill’s departure from the role of Geralt of Rivia, a few other cast members will not be coming back. Season 3 saw the deaths of Galatin (Robbie Amell), Artorius (Terence Maynard), Filavandrel (Tom Canton), Tissaia (MyAnna Buring), Lydia (Aisha Fabienne Ross), and Rience (Sam Woolf). Due to schedule issues, Kim Bodnia, who portrayed Geralt’s mentor Vesemir, has also withdrawn.
Cavill will be replaced as Geralt of Rivia by Liam Hemsworth, the hero of The Hunger Games films.
Hemsworth used Instagram to confirm his casting. In the social post, he wrote: “As a Witcher fan, I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure.”
“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character,” Hemsworth went on. “I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”
There’s been some speculation about how this recasting might happen in terms of the story. Hemsworth and Cavill don’t really look alike, do they? Well, a possible multiverse is hinted to by one of the show’s producers.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com, executive producer Tomek Bagiński said: “This is a very little thing that I will tease – people who know the books really deeply also know that this is not a typical fantasy book. It’s not just one world. It’s not just one story happening in those books, in those stories.”
But this runs counter to what we had heard from another producer on the show’s treatment of multiverses. “There are no different versions,” Declan de Barra said in a late 2022 interview with GamesRadar+. “They may have changed in terms of their character arc and how long they’ve lived and what they’re doing on these other worlds, but it’s the same person. It’s not like there are two versions of Jaskier. It’s straight up that there’s one version of Yennefer, one version of everybody.” So we’ll just have to wait and see on that one…
Bagiński has also told other media that he has seen Hemsworth looking “awesome” in the complete Geralt outfit. This indicates that the actor is ready to proceed, and as the season is presently in production, there is no turning back now. I apologize, Cavill fans.
What Is The Plot Of The Witcher Season 4?
The Witcher season 4 summary is officially available, and it sounds rather exciting. Per Neftlix, this reads: “After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire – and finding one another again.”
Even if we don’t have any additional particular story elements, we still have a sense of what the fantastical world will be up to next.
We know there are several narrative points that need to be resolved because of the season three finale. First of all, there’s The Rats storyline as Ciri has now joined the group of young criminals. We anticipate this to appear in the fourth season as well, while we are aware that there have been rumors about a spin-off program starring them.
Based only on the plot of the books, the majority of Andrzej Sapkowski’s third book, Baptism of Fire, will probably be covered in The Witcher season 4. While Ciri finds her place among The Rats, Geralt gets entangled in a fresh struggle between two opposing parties. We won’t give away too much about the plot here.
Actor Allan told SFX about the future of her role and the reason they brought in additional stunts for her. “If we are not seeing her do anything yet, and then in season four she is going and joining a gang of killing Rats, it’s not really going to add up,” she stated. “I wanted it to feel like she started to use that training and put that into real life, although she’s not killing anyone yet, or shouldn’t be.” Now she’s going by the name Falka too, expect to see a different kind of iteration of her going forward…
The mission for Geralt and Yennefer is a little simpler: they will be looking for Ciri and attempting to keep her safe. However, Yen will surely also be occupied with attempting to repair the harm caused by the Aretuza carnage and the passing of her mentor Tissaia.
Prince Radovid has now assumed the role of King Radovid in Redania, which is most likely bad news for Jaskier. Then there’s Vilgefortz and Emhyr who think they’ve managed to bring Ciri home once and for all, but well she looks a little different… We’re eager to watch how everything turns out.
