'The Witcher' Season 2 is yet to release, but no one can stop us from talking about season 3 as early as now.

The first season of the live-action adaptation premiered on Netflix in 2019, and we have waited for two years to see its second season.

Will There Be 'The Witcher' Season 3?

Yes, 'The Witcher' Season 3 is officially happening!

Netflix confirmed the show's return during the platform's massive Tudum event in September 2021, ahead of season 2's release.

Aside from the new season, the streaming giant also announced a second anime feature film and a new Kids and Family Witcher series.

Here's the official announcement from Netflix:

When Will 'The Witcher' Season 3 Release?

There is no release date yet. But judging the length of production that the previous season took, season 3 won't likely arrive until late 2023 or 2024.

'The Witcher' season 1 was released on Netflix on December 20, 2019. The second season is arriving on December 17, 2021.

Production for the second season was greatly affected by the pandemic, which is why we had to wait for two years for the show's return.

Without a pandemic, there's a chance that the third season might arrive next year.

What Is The Plot Of 'The Witcher' Season 3?

The first season of 'The Witcher' introduces us to Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer, and Princess Ciri. The second season will see Geralt's return to Kaer Morhen to protect his adopted daughter, Ciri.

There are eight books in 'The Witcher' series, so we have plenty of source materials ready for adaptation.

We still do not know which book Netflix will use to draw inspiration for the third season. Let us wait for the second season to release, and we shall start analyzing its events and compare them with the books.

We will update this space immediately once season 2 is released.
