The Waterfront Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

The Waterfront is a series that came out of nowhere and became a hit on Netflix. The core plot is rather straightforward: The Buckley family is in debt and, as a result, engages in some risky and dangerous drug smuggling activities. This brings back Harlan (Holt McCallany), who has a heart disease, a drinking problem, and a soft retirement of his own. The season turns into a drama that is as much about the Buckley family’s illicit activities as it is about their own interactions, which are juicy, soap operatic, and leave you wanting to know what happens next.

It ends in a particularly vulnerable spot. A whole new set of issues has emerged in the Parker family, even if the issue with the psychotic drug lord Grady (Topher Grace) has been resolved. In addition, for the Parker family to be satisfied, Belle (Maria Bello) must take charge of the company. Will that make Harlan happy? Well, certainly not, given that he stated to his son Cane (Jake Weary) that he always desired it to be a father/son enterprise.

Additionally, Belle is collaborating with Cane and the Parker family to sell off a large portion of the waterfront property in Buckley for what will likely be developed. They must have the money, but Harlan will not accept that either.

But with the first season wrapped, can we expect more? Here’s everything we know.

Will There Be The Waterfront Season 2?

Though early returns are encouraging, we do not yet know if The Waterfront will return for season 2. On its first day of release, the show shot to the top of Netflix’s TV Show ratings list and has been there ever since. Additionally, the show appears to be gaining popularity.

If a show is a huge enough smash, Netflix will occasionally renew it immediately after it premieres. However, the majority of the time, the streamer must wait to observe how the numbers appear and decide whether to continue the story.

For now, we’re still waiting to see where The Waterfront lands.

When Will The Waterfront Season 2 Air?

In May 2024, Netflix placed an order for Season 1 of The Waterfront, which was filmed on location in North Carolina from August to December. They were able to salvage the show for a June 2025 release as a result.

We would assume that Williamson and crew could release a second season around Summer 2026, assuming they receive a season 2 renewal, considering how quickly they accomplished that and the fact that The Waterfront isn’t a particularly effects-heavy show. We’ll be here waiting!
