The mystery thriller starring Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale is based on a chilling true story.
The Watcher has hit the streamer and it took no time for it to climb to the top of viewers' watchlists. Most people have already made their way through the seven-part season and are wondering if there will be a second installment.
Are they making season 2 of The Watcher??? Wtf was that ending all them cliff hangers?!?— 𝒑𝒂𝒑𝒊 (@angelvaldeezus) October 21, 2022
Created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. and based on a true story, The Watcher follows a couple who purchase and move into their dream home. However, it soon becomes clear that Dean and Nora Braddock are not welcome where they live. Not only do they have creepy neighbors but they also begin receiving threatening letters from someone named The Watcher. Interestingly, the series does conclude by setting up more suspense, fear, terror, and drama to come in the Westfield suburbs, with one or many Watchers committing crimes for self-gain.
So here's everything we know about season 2.
Unfortunately, Netflix has made no official announcement about the series sequel. Of course, being based on a true story, and the second series for The Watcher would depend on whether there's more of the real tale to tell. The original story was first published in a 2018 article on The Cut, which has recently been updated with a four-year follow-up.
Still, despite multiple investigations by the police and private detectives, The Watcher has never been identified. That means that any potential developments in the eerie case could lead to a new plot for any further installments.

Let’s say The Watcher is renewed for Season 2. We could probably expect that hypothetical series in late 2023 or 2024. In 2018, Netflix won the rights to the story surrounding 657 Boulevard. Yet it wasn’t announced until the summer of 2021 that Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale would be leading the project. According to The Sun, the series was filmed from September 2021 to March 2022. That means it takes about nine months to a year to make a new season of this particular show. Fingers crossed we get a new installment every year.
If we get more of The Watcher, we'd expect to see leads Bobby Cannavale and Naomi Watts returning as Dean and Nora Brannock.
There's also the iconic Jennifer Coolidge, who plays realtor Karen Calhoun. The last we see of Karen in the series finale, she's running away from 657 Boulevard screaming after encountering The Watcher. So, would she come back for a season two? Here's hoping.
Will #TheWatcher return for Series 2? Despite the series telling the full true story it was inspired by, it's not hard to imagine it could return as an anthology show, as was the case with other #RyanMurphy shows...https://t.co/t9UuVXrOtb— NationalWorld TV (@NationalWorldTV) October 26, 2022
One cast member will sadly not be returning, and that's Noma Dumezweni who stars as private investigator Theodora Birch. S1 sadly saw Theodora die after battling liver cancer throughout the series, so we'd only expect to see her back in flashback form.
The Watcher's finale featured Karen running away from 657 Boulevard screaming after seemingly encountering The Watcher - although what we know from the real-life case is that The Watcher has never been identified.

The real-life Broaddus family - who inspired the Brannocks - moved out of the house after five years in 2019. A new family moved in and the Broaddus family passed along the letters they received so they would be able to identify the writing if they were to ever receive the same threatening mail. The new family haven't received anything.
