The Victims Game

'The Victims Game’ Season 2 Plot: What Is It All About?

Warning: Season 1 spoilers ahead.

'The Victims Game' follows Fang Yi-Jen, a forensic detective suffering from Asperger’s syndrome. He is working for the police on a case that involves his estranged daughter, Hsiao-Meng.

An investigative journalist named Hsu Hai-Yin covered the case and became passionate about helping Fang Yi-Jen solve the mystery.

What started as a discovery of a melted, dead body in a bathtub filled with some sort of acid solution turned out to be a part of an orchestrated “suicide chain” organized by a woman named Li Ya-Chun.

Hsiao-Meng was caught up in the middle of the tragic deaths and attempted to commit suicide too. Fortunately, she gets saved and reunited with her father Fang Yi-Jen.

Season 1 had a well-rounded ending, which took place two years after the "suicide chain". Fang Yi-Jen stepped down from his forensic scientist role to become a professor, while his daughter Hsiao-Meng got out of juvenile prison.

Reporter Hsu Hai-Yin gives Fang Yi-Jen a ride to prison, to fetch his daughter. He steps out of the car, not minding the rain while his daughter, Hsiao-Meng, gets out of the prison with an umbrella on hand. She extends the umbrella to her father and the series ended with the flashback frame of Yi-Jen, his wife, and a baby Hsiao-Meng near the cliff.

Not much is known about season 2's plot yet, but it looks like the three will be caught in some form of danger again. However, this time, Fang Yi-Jen has already reconnected with his daughter, which could significantly impact how they will handle future predicaments. Yi-Jen might have more time to spend with his daughter now that he's stepped out from his exhaustive role as a detective.

It's also possible for the former forensic expert to reunite with Hsu Hai-Yin in future cases.

Award-winning producers Hank Tseng and Phil Tang of Greener Grass Production promised that season 2 will be "even more thrilling and captivating than the first.”

“From script to screen we are proud to have created The Victims’ Game as an entirely original IP from Taiwan,” said Tseng and Tang in a statement following the renewal. “This renewal with Netflix is a milestone for the local entertainment industry to set foot on the global stage. It is time to unleash the limitless potential of original stories from Taiwan. We are excited to confirm that directors David Chuang and Allen Chen, as well as the production team will reunite on set. We are incredibly excited to bring Season 2 to viewers around the world, which will be even more thrilling and captivating than the first.”
