The Stranger tied all the loose ends by the end of the first season, can we still expect for a follow-up?
Early this year, Netflix dropped The Stranger and hooked the audience to devour the entire episode as soon as possible.
The show premiered with eight episodes on 30 January 2020. Each episode ends with a cliffhanger tempting audience to watch an episode after another to get answers.
The story follows a 20-year-old mysterious woman who goes around threatening to reveal people's darkest secrets if they don't pay her with money.
With everything pieced together by the end of season 1, can we still expect more?
As of this writing, there are still no announcements regarding the renewal of the show.
Author Harlan Coben has previously revealed that the show has been created for one season only.
Speaking to the press, the author said, "We don't think it's fair to have one of those shows where they don't give you all the answers, and you have to wait until season two before you get it,"
He further added, "This is a closed story. You learned all the answers by the end, and the ending is tremendously satisfying."
If the second season will ever get the go signal, it is unlikely for most of the casts to return. In the same interview, Coben revealed that it's not on their plan to bring in the old characters, although it is possible.
Coben added, "I never say never, but it's not our plan. Our plan is to give you one great, great season."
It's still very early to tell. It's also worth noting that the author's not intending on bringing back the same casts, so that leaves us with a big blank space to fill. However, we are hoping that the story of the second season will still revolve around the stranger (Christine Killane), so there is a chance that Hannah John-Kamen will return for the role.
The authors can always opt to create a spin-off story about each character, but until we get official announcements, everything is just a guessing game.
There are two paths that the show could take. First is come up with an entirely new cast and plot, or they could pull together existing threads from the previous season.
Christine a.k.a "The Stranger" could go on finding a living by exposing people's secrets and destroying family ties.
It was also revealed in the previous season that Christine was, in fact, Adam's unknown half-sister! This gives another possible jump-off point for season two incase the authors decide to explore their characters more.
With no announcements regarding the renewal yet, it remains impossible to tell. Trailers often release a month before a show's premiere.
