The Seven Deadly Sins Season 4: Netflix Release Date, Plot, News, And More

The Seven Deadly Sins season 4 is officially on its way. Here's everything we know about the new season.

Last year, anime fans were finally treated to the third season (some consider it the second season like in Japan but to each their own) of the popular manga series The Seven Deadly Sins, which aired between Jan 13, 2018, to Jun 30, 2018. Like the other seasons, this one was well-received and once it ended, it got fans hyped up for another season, which we will thankfully be getting in fall of this year.

What Is 'The Seven Deadly Sins'?

The Seven Deadly Sins

If you’re a new fan to the series, this section will catch you up to speed on the anime’s plot. The show is set in an alternate version of the British Isles known as Britannia. The Seven Deadly Sins are a group of knights who were tasked to serve the kingdom of Liones and defeat the Demon Clan's Ten Commandments. But they were branded as traitors for assassinating the Great Holy Knight Zaratras after being summoned to meet up with him at the castle of Liones.

The story picks up 10 years after a group of Holy Knights staged a coup against the King of Liones, which led to Princess Elizabeth embarking on a mission to seek out the very knights, The Seven Deadly Sins, who had been on the run for the past 1000 years. And with their help, Elizabeth believes she can restore peace and prosperity back to her kingdom.

What Happened in 'The Seven Deadly Sins' Season 3 (Or Season 2)?

*Warning! Season 3 Spoilers Beyond This Point*

The Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins defeated Hendrickson but failed to vanquish him. As a result, he freed the Demon Clan’s ‘The Ten Commandments’ who then brought chaos into the kingdoms of Liones and Camelot.

The season closed off with the return of Meliodas who killed the commander of the Ten Commandments, Fraudrin. It was also revealed that Meliodas is the son of the Demon King and was cursed with immortality. We learned that the Demon King plans to conquer the human realm by feeding on the emotions of Meliodas, which will eventually give him the power to return and carry out his plan.

After defeating Fraurdrin, Meliodas tells Elizabeth that he enjoyed killing Fraudrin and is worried that he would have to revert into his demon state if he wants to save her life. Elizabeth consoled him and told him that she would never leave his side, no matter what happens.

'The Seven Deadly Sins' Season 4 Release Date

Japanese fans are elated to know that The Seven Deadly Sins would be returning for its third (fourth according to Netflix) season in October this year. Unfortunately, this means the US fans will have to wait for a while before the season drops on Netflix. Since the new season comprises of 24 episodes, we can only assume that the series would be available for streaming on Netflix in 2020.

Because this is the case with anime, it is assumed that the show will air every episode on a weekly basis in Japan which would take 24 weeks before the season finally concludes and is released on Netflix. It is speculated that the first episode will air on the first Saturday of October, which is the 5th of October, so a 2019 Netflix release is definitely out of the question

There’s also the scary statistic of the season 1 finale concluding Japan on March 29th, 2015 but making it to Netflix on November 1st, 2015. However, with the amount of support that Netflix gets from its community as well as fans from the series, it is possible that we may expect to get the series sooner in 2020, like in July or August.

One more observation for the lengthy release date is that the new season is going to be animated by Studio Deen instead of A1 Pictures like the previous seasons.

'The Seven Deadly Sins' Season 4 Plot

The Seven Deadly Sins

From where we left off in season 3, Zeldris and the other commandments have taken control of Camelot, forcing King Arthur to go into hiding. We can’t give away too much since we’ve caught up with the manga, but we can say that you can expect to see several secrets revealed and where Meliodas’ and Elizabeth’s relationship will go from where we last saw them. Will Meliodas continue to take more risks in order to protect Elizabeth and eventually succumb to his demon form? With the threat of the Demon Clan afoot, the Seven Deadly Sins, who are spread across the kingdom, must band together again to eliminate the present threat of the Commandments.
